You have to take your playing to the next level. Do the unusual, find that certain something that makes it your own style.

Search yourself and find who you are and what you believe in. Concentrate on making yourself better each day through practice and learning though whatever means you can. Eventually you will get to the point where you don't have to think about what you should do musically, it will come naturally. Once you get to that point, sell out all your beliefs and listen to your producer and agents. Or you could take the easy way out and try signing with Disney if you're young and have mediocre musical ability. Or you could go on American Idol or similar reality show. Or you could try youtube. Whatever you do, do not try and make it on just artistic ability. Seriously, who does that anymore?

Sadly, rock died years ago.

You could be a Pop Star, though.

Just be between the ages of 12 and 16.
Have parents willing to who-ore you out to corporate America.
Get on a Disney kid's show.
Learn to lipsinc.
Slowly self destruct.

That's the stuff legends are now made of, kids!

I've read a lot of good things to try, but the only sure way is to be a multi millionare and buy two or three hits and then the recording industry will become interrested and maybe if you can play and sing (not necessarily carry a tune) and have a pretty face and good body, and are willing to sell your soul, you might have a chance. Most important is the money to buy it with tho. Used to be talent was the important thing but far as I can tell, not so much any more. Or maybe Simon can help you...........

Don't get me wrong. There are still bands playing Rock, just as there are bands playing Blues and bands playing Jazz.
But just as with Blues and Jazz, Rock will never again be the mainstream music for the masses.
It's going to be Shlocky Pop and Hip/Hop and then whatever that evolves into.

But this is a good thing. This means that only people who really love Rock will be creating Rock,
just the way people who truly love Blues and Jazz are making Blues and Jazz.

I'd like to believe that I'm wrong (it has happened on a few rare occasions  )
but, the last few decades have been only reinforcing my belief.
I can only hope I'm wrong, kids!

So you want to be a rock and roll star
Then listen now to what I say
Just get an electric guitar
Then take some time and learn how to play

And with your hair combed right
And your pants fit tight
It's gonna be all right
