I'd follow General Larry Platt into battle 8)

Either you need to be a great songwriter, or ride the coat tails of one. In addition you must gig like crazy. With all that going for you, then you have a very remote and slight chance of maybe some at-least notable commercial success.

Pen a few good songs. Thats what Christine Mcvie says.

I suppose in this day and age where marketability of your appearance comes into play you'd have to be develop some social problem and resist the temptation to sell it to someone.

We'll never get anymore Hendrix's or Clapton's whilst image is a issue. Hendrix looked like the wild man of Borneo when he made it and Clapton just rebelled against everything except Leadbelly.

Put in endless hours of practice, write great material, polish your act,be unique doing what nobody else has.Gig and travel constantly,be prepared to go hungry for days,be commited and stubborn, get a good manager who knows the ropes.Last but most important...Love it.

Well almost everyone has talked about what it used to take to be a rock star. In this day and age there are no more rock stars and I can argue the point that rock itself is close to extinction.

Now to become a star today I would suggest you heavily practice working on your lip syncing and your rap sheet.

Become a rock star by not starting with the goal "to become a rock star". Play music because its what you love to do, not because its what you think you need to do in order to become rich and famous, because while you may get famous, rich is hard to be in the music industry sometimes, and while people may recognize you, that doesn't pay the bills...
