Love it for it's execution and beauty.

The story behind it as I am led to understand is... Clapton couldn't nail the opening riff as it was written so they grabbed a young studio musician named Gregg and he ripped right through it. 8)

Nobody caught it or called me on that! You guys 'n gals are slipping! I named the wrong Allman brother... don't know why, brain fart I guess... It was Duane that played on that song.

That's a huge question. And although I know you're looking for an answer from the world of pop or rock music, I'm going to turn to the Romantic Era: "Erlkönig" by Franz Schubert. It's a dramatic through-composed setting of the classic poem Der Erlkönig by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

I know, I know. But read the lyrics and give it a listen. 8)

No, I'm just looking for an answerb thats all :) . Any pop song's just a load of junk....

These “favorites” things drive me crazy when it comes to music. You folks will never meet anyone with the eclectic taste in music that I have, so my mind almost explodes trying to even narrow it down to just a mere 100!

Okay. I think I've come up with a "perfect" song from popular music:

"In My Life" by the Beatles 8)

Hi Campbellgrafx,I think you'll eventually see that a vast number of the Forumites have very eclectic tastes in music.I have noticed that a lot of our members are well versed and interested in many genres of music.Speaking for myself(I'm a musical schitzophrenic)people are amazed and many just shake their heads when they check out my music library.Over the years I have amassed a collection that spans not only many genres but many ethnic origins especially East Indian.I also have music from the 13th&14th century onward again from different countries.I think that you will find that many may have musical libraries even more vast and varied than mine.Having said that I think that the more varied the musical well you draw from the better and more innovative musician you become.Ain't it great being eclectic?
