I've finally got a band (thank god), and our first practice session should be somewhere around next week. (Riley (me) Vocalist/guitar, Jake drums, haven't confirmed our bassist yet.)
But, my point is, a competition starts in april called my school act, its for high school students trying to make a living out of there music. What ya gotta do, is post one of your bestest songs, or covers, tell'em a bit about the song and what genre its supposed to be, and just wait til the comp closes for the results of the "best song". The winner, wins big $$$, and a recording contract with sony :).
Dunno what song to post, but its definetly gonna be one of ours.

There's the link there: http://www.myschoolact.com/

See bro. Thats something you can use to keep your head focused and out the sadness realm you seem to have been drowning in! A very positive thing. Stick and it and I look forward to some happier posts from you on the progress you are making. If you want any advice on performing live or anything just ask.

I'll start talking to the enthusiastic music teacher at our school next time we've got concert band. I was thinking about entering last year, but I thought I wasn't ready.
I should be alright with going live in front of small crouds. I've played nirvana's rape me three times (as an assigment) first in front of about 20 people, then 35 people, then about 85 people. I haven't sung to anyone though....

great dude hope you win..... as for me im having trouble getting dan away from ps3 to start a band which sucks cuz i have TONS of songs written on guitar but i want him to look them over and do the drum parts..... bass is easy enough to write without any knowledge of the instrument (i did 5 minutes of improvising at GC the first time i ever touched a bass guitar lol)
