This is related to the thread to find the oldest poster. What song was Number One on the day you were born? To find out, go to the Wikipedia List of Number-One Hits for your country or continent and select your year. Then find your birth date (or the chart listing that immediately precedes it).

The number-one hit on the day I was born was "Can't Buy Me Love" by the Beatles. US and UK charts. Not bad. 8)

For extra credit and to tie into the "romantics" thread, check out the number-one song nine months before you were born. In my case, it was "Sukiyaki" by Kyu Sakamoto.

Happy Together by the Turtles. That's a cool song, I think. 8)
Nine months earlier...Frank Sinatra - Strangers In The Night
fitting, considering I was born of an affair.

and...

the top 5 for my birth year are...

1: Lulu - To Sir With Love
2: Box Tops - The Letter
3: Bobby Gentry - Ode To Billie Joe
4: Association - Windy
5: Monkees - I'm A Believer

I like the idea of this thread. Unfortunately, it doesn't go back far enough on the Canadian side. :(

Ah, the records go back further where I live. Seems Beethoven's fifth was topping the charts when I was born.

...Can that be right...?

Haha!! I think I'm a teensy bit older than you, Ceri. Maybe it would be something from Handel.
