I listen to a wide variety of music and I'm inspired by the same. There are some famous players (Lowell George, Duane Allman, Clapton, Beck, Hendrix, SRV, Buddy Guy, Brian Setzer, Jon Herrington, Robben Ford, etc) and also some others who I've seen in clubs across the country that have all inspired me in some way.

In addition to so many others already listed, I have to add my all-time favorite guitar hero:

Brian May

I would have to say Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Mississippi Fred McDowel, and Eric Clapton.

I'm inspired by Garrison Starr, Sara Bareilles, Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, and every single performer I've seen live. They don't inspire me all the time, but when I'm watching someone live, I want to pick up my guitar and write.

Specific songs that inspire me... Garrison's "Inside Out" and "Beautiful In Los Angeles," Sara's "Vegas," "Follow No One," written by a friend of mine, and "Stay" by Sugarland, written by Jennifer Nettles.

They aren't searing leads or brilliant guitarists, but they're tremendous songwriters, and that's what I like. Long, drawn-out solos don't impress me.

BB King not just as musicians but as men. They've achieved unbelievable things musically, but also outside of music. They never quit.

Steve Harris, Stanley Clark, Stu Hamm, Flea, Cliff Burton(RIP). Steve Harris, when I was in 7th grade made me want to play bass.

Kurt Cobain inspired me to get a guitar. I started on bass but the reason I started was because I thought it would be easier to learn.

Listening to Nels Cline (current guitarist for Wilco) inspired me to make the move from acoustic to electric. He's a master at using his skills to compliment the music. Listen to "Impossible Germany" off the latest Wilco album to hear him at his best.
