Hey guys, I was going to post this in the vintage amp section but I thought it would get to more people if posted in here so I hope you guys don't mind. Sorry if you do.

Anyways, has anyone ever seen or even played an old K&F amp? I was just reading about them. For those who dont know it was Leo Fender's first foray into amp building along with Doc Kauffman. I read of their rarity and I sure as hell aint ever seen one.

Any of you guys been lucky enough to?
And if so is it actually 'luck' as in are they good?
Whats the specs, tube compliment etc?

Thanks guys,

CC

The K&F amps were made for the lapsteels. they had 2 unlabelled inputs and no volume or tone control, because they were a package deal with the lap steel. they had an 8" jensen speaker. What the power tubes were i couldn't tell ya, i once saw a gutted case, but there was no sign of what was in it.

One thing is, most of leo's early designs were pretty much taken right from the RCA tube application manuals, so it probably wasn't too far off from the early smaller amps with the Fender brand.

Thank you Twelvebar!

I appreciate it. I wouldnt mind a wee lapsteel someday too. I'm enjoying my slide these days.

I had an old lap steel, i wish i would have thought about restoring it, rather than just letting it go. But I was young and didn't appreciate it. it ws in horrible shape, i didn't know how to play it. Now as i am older I would view it as a cool project, back then I just didn't care.

After I saw Robert Randolph open for Clapton I've wanted one. I also love slide as a rule. Rick Richards being a standout player for me albeit not on a lap. But I've been flirting with open G a lot lately on the Telecoustic and I'm loving it!

I have 2 old cheaper acoustics that are set up for slide, one in open A and one in open G. i feel like a hack on slide though, but it sure is fun to play.

A fun thing might be a Guit-steel like junior brown uses.
