He came out and butchered November Rain while the likes of Jammie Fox talked sh1t over it.

I'm a huge Guns N' Roses fan but Slash is such a #$@*&!% sellout it aint funny. You would never catch Izzy, Axl or Duff or even Steve etc being that bad and having cartoon versions of them on the cover of video games etc and working with such drivel. Granted they are all a55holes but Slash is the biggest embarrassment in the whole GN'R camp.

He needs to stop blaming singers all the time too. The Axl thing, 2 singers in Slash's Snakepit and now VR are still hunting their second. He needs to take a step back and realise maybe HE is the problem.

He does this too many times, having people rap over Guns songs. And they are never HIS Guns songs either, he always seems to butcher anything Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose wrote cos those songs were actually the hits.

Its sad.

Ok thanks. Yeah I love Slash & the old GNR but I too feel like Slash is a tad over rated, but what can I say, Slash is amazing!!

Slash used to be good before he got sober and was with Guns. With Guns he was amazing but it was the combination of those 5 guys who made that band plus it was Axl and Izzy who wrote most of the material that allowed Slash to play so well. You cant put the decorations up without a tree if you follow me.

I'd take Izzy Stradlin's 10 solo albums and the new Guns N' Roses before Velvet Revolver any day though. Its more real.

Yeah I see what your saying, but I do like Velvet Revlovers sound, 2 me it sounds like Slash. & your right Slash didnt really have anything to do with GNR song writing, he just played it...may I add he played it very good.

I think Slash's playing in VR is weak compared to the likes of The Garden, a song with Alice Cooper singing on Use Your Illusion I. Thats just amazing.

Check out the Izzy link above too.

Ok thanks. So like I know Slash has a dark, kinda blusey sound, right? Well how does he get that sound, like his specific sound/style (besides equiment wise)? He uses the neck of his guitar 4 a lot of sound, right??

Slash has nearly always used Gibson Les Paul's through modified Marshall's. His sound for the most part comes from being on the neck pick up with the tone rolled down, at least for bluesier solo's.

In Guns he sounded very dark but that was in direct comparison to Izzy (Slash is on the right side when you listen through headphones, Izzy on the left) who used Gibson hollow bodies, Fender Telecasters and Les Pauls with P90's through Fender amps.

You you had Slash, very dark, almost violin sounding (Estranged off Use Your Illusion II for example) and Izzy, little sustain, dry and choppy. Together it was the Guns sound.

But yeah, its Les Pauls, Marshall overdrive, neck pick up, tone down...70% of the time anyway.

I always thought he used a half cocked wah too, to get that nasal thing going on.

You are right but in terms of Guns only on a few tracks, Civil War being a prime example. Just like his B.C. Rich on You Could Be Mine and Travis Bean on Bad Obsession and Explorer on Locomotive, oh and an SG on My Michelle.

As Niki said, on some songs he has a wah. In Guns days it was a Digitech, these days he has a signature CryBaby.

Slash wasn't into dsitortion, just natural overdrive from his pick-ups and Marshall heads.

Yes and Yes.

Early days in Guns N' Roses before he got hooked on Gibson Slash used to play with Izzy's 70's Telecaster Custom a lot on stage.
Pre Guns N' Roses he used a Strat in Tidus Sloan.

He can read music too and had a very interesting upbringing which included Iggy Pop as a regular dinner guest and his Mother dating David Bowie. Slash's parents were both involved in the music business as a costume designer and album cover artist.

Himself, Duff and Izzy all had music in their family and all 3 plus Axl can read music and could have played any instrument in the band.

For someone who doesn't like Slash you're like an encyclopedia. That's some crazy knowledge you got going on. Axl was probably scheduled to perform but decided to go on 3 hours after the show was over.
