I just got a call from Sam Ash saying the 57 commemorative strat's are sold out, so they can't replace mine. My husband bought me one for my birthday, but the finish was damaged in one place, due to carelessness. They had it sitting in a red stand, so the red bled through.

I'm not happy.

It would seem to me that Sam Ash is responsible for making sure the guitar is 100% perfect at delivery. If not and it's their fault, they should pay to have it re-finished. I would also contact Fender and get their take on it. No matter where it was, nothing should bleed through the finish. Now if your husband bought "as is", you can only send ack to Fender for a new re-finishing.

I would say that this is definitely an issue for Sam Ash. If the guitar was bought in new condition, then that's how you should have recieved it. If there are no more available for them to make it right, then they should be the ones to contact Fender, and have it set up to be refinned. Wether or not that all goes down as it should, is a mystery. Best of luck with that.

Now for my reason to vent...So the freakin' 57' Strat gets a special edition and the P bass doesn't?!?...The introduction of the Split-coil doesn't warrant a Special Anniversary AVS run? Wow...just wow.

Rant over...

It has a Nitrocellulose Lacquer
finish, so it needs extra care. The responsible party is Sam Ash. Fender's customer service has been very helpful.

I just received another call saying they located another one that will be shipped tomorrow. I'll believe it when it's here.

Since it's coming from Nashville I don't think there will be a problem.
