Just saw the Youtube performance by texasguitarslinger for the first time. Wow, I am impressed. Now there is a guitarist with talent!!

Yeah, and I think only about 2 years or so of experience!!

Sorry to interrupt ladies. Just wanted to say how amazing Texas is in that clip! Proper playing right there! 8)

I was just about to drop in here, but it looks like I already have. I should really post another video or something, that one feels like such a long time ago.

I was just in Guitar Center today(I fell in love with a Tele--I really need to give into my G.A.S. and just buy one already. :P) with my friend, who's a dude, and I always feel like I have to impress every dude who walks by. They're always like, "Oh, hey, a chick. She doesn't know the first thing she's doing."
But, whatever.
I should really just get used to it.

I hear you. And it's even worse when you have a purple guitar! People always assume you're going to want to play Hannah Montana or some soft un-rockin' song when you want into an open mic. It always feels good to blast them with hard rock or blues. :D

Come to think of it, there aren't too many female musicians or singers in my music collection either. Bonnie Raitt is the first to come to mind, but I can't really think of another off hand. Earlier tonight I sat in with a band who recommended a female guitarist/singer to me named Carolyn Wonderland out of Austin. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to her yet but from what I've heard so far she's really good.

That is you Texas? Cool guitar work, very very cool! You make that Squire sing. Thanks for posting Litnin' and Beaubs! 8)

Yeah, that was the King of the Blues contest last August. I won the store finals, but I didn't make it to the next round in Dallas. That's alright though, because it was a lot of fun and I learned a ton. The guy who posted that video did so without permission, and sparked a comment war. But hey, any publicity is good publicity, right?

Here's the video (which was posted with permission) of me playing the district finals. I was more relaxed and I think I might have done a little bit better with it. I wish I could redo it now, it's amazing what six months of practicing a song can do. Oh, don't turn it up too loud because my Grandmother's whistling right in the camera mic at the beginning.

I know that LadyVendetta is a female. She posted a pic of her self in the fender fourm t-shirt contest. And she is a teacher to. The coolest teacher that I know but never met :D

Female here. I never get any help in my local GC; they all just look at me like I'm lost or something. Their loss, because I have terrible gas and just end up buying online. I have a telecaster addiction.

Favorite female guitarists: Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt
Favorites overall: SRV, Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, John Mayer

I hear you. I love GuitarCenter.com for that very reason. That's how I've gotten all my gear for much the same reason. Besides, I get stuff they don't carry in the stores that way, too.
I've got GAS pains for another amp, myself!

To be fair almost no one gets help at guitar center, from the sounds of it.

susan tedeschi is my favorite female guitarist too. (i'm not female btw)

check out debbie davies too, if you don't already know her work, from the fave's you listed (both female and male,) i think she'd be right up your alley.

Thanks for the serenade, Solid Body. Miss Jackson is one of my many nicknames.

Thanks Twelvebar and Triskele for the tips. I'm always looking for new artists (or sources of inspiration) to follow.

Like Janet Jackson says:

Nasty, nasty boys, gimme a nasty groove
Nasty, nasty boys, lemme see your nasty body move

I could learn to like this, listen up

I'm not a prude, I just want some respect
So close the door if you want me to respond
Cause privacy is my middle name
My last name is control
No, my first name ain't baby
It's Janet - Miss Jackson if you're nasty

Learning female guitarist right now.

I have a Fender Squier (sunburst). I tried learning as a kid, but didn't follow through because it was a classical guitar (too big for my fingers). I love my Fender but I am trying to find a lighter guitar for myself.

Don't really have a fave guitarist but I do like:

Jimi Hendrix
Elvis
Orianthi
Slash
