Whats this EVH frankenstein replica?!?! It seems more like a cosmetic piece of garbage to rip off people who dont know anything about guitars than something for a serious guitarist.... if anybody has one.... is it?????

Most signature products tend to be overpriced and/or overrated....

People have been ripping people off since the beginning of time...people who spoke Latin came up with Caveat Emptor, or Buyer Beware, centuries ago...

There is a big market for signature guitars out there. Why shouldn't Eddie Van Halen have his signature Frankenstein, I mean he played "Eruption". Have you listen to Eruption. Here is the longer version and notice the guitar. Yep that is the frankenstein.

Yeah it looks like a total POS..... from what i remember, "we tracked down some quarters from that year and screwed em into the guitars. also we made sure to add the cigarette burns on the headstock."...... k now how in gods name does that relate to how a guitar sounds?!?!

Edit: this is directed at bowlfreshener's post regarding signature products. The real frankenstein is awesome lol

I don't know. Even the Slash signature LP comes with a ddink that is on Slash's original guitar. I personally don't know why people buy Road worn and guitars that look like artists original guitars with every scratch on it to look excatly like the orginal. Fender sells Jeff Beck strat that when Beck got it in his hands he wasn't sure which was which the old one or the new one, they looked exactly the same. There is also a signature Clapton Strat to.

Like you wouldn't buy Cobain signature Mustang if you had the change

People just like to own accurate reproductions of historical items, which is all that is. I mean some people would probably find the release of an exact replica of Kurt Cobain's Jag-Stang or an exact replica of the guitar from the Smells Like Teen Spirit video for $2,500 to be ridiculous. But others may be willing to pay for a replica of a well-known or historical guitar because the real EVH guitar or Cobain guitar is either not for sale, or perhaps in Cobains case, destroyed, since he had a knack for breaking his equipment. Most people who have that much to spend on instruments tend to know by that point that its not the gear but the player...most, but not all...but these items at times tend to be marketed towards the ultimate collector/super fan, and not necessarily players...

In the case of the cobain guitars THAT COLOR of mustang from 1975 was on ebay for $3500..... $3500 for a fender from the mid 70's?!?! yeah no thanks I'd rather have an RI than POS electronics lol

I'm not fond of Signature Series guitars/basses. You're really spending much more for the name attatched to it but, some folks like that stuff.
Plus, although I love Clapton, I don't want his sound, I want my own.

The Road Worns are rather silly to me (sorry Fender). If I'm shelling out good money for a new guitar/bass,
I want it to look new. I'll do just fine wearing it out on my own, thank you.
