.......and I couldn't put it down!! OMG. I last played one in 1983 and HATED it. Mind you the git that owned it didn't exactly ring all of my bells either so that might have had something to do with it. Anyway expecting the worst, I played it unplugged and thought YUCK this sucks (I was expecting to hate it anyway). So next I plugged it in and played it clean and yuck it SUCKED - sounded dull and boring. The neck was nice and thick just how I like it though! But then I kicked in the distortion and OMG I was blown away - a whole new range of tones, sustain, harmonic resonance that I just never had in a strat in the last 30 years. Suddenly caught myself ringin out the classic Les Paul numbers - couldn't stop playing AC/DC numbers lol. (even if Angus does play an SG). It was so Gibson! A whole new world was opening up before me. I had to stop when my fingers hurt so bad they were raw. Anyway, I don't know if this is the right place to post this sort of post being a Fender forum an' all but for a different reason I will be adding one of these to my collection very shortly as I can now switch between classic strat and gibson tones and not be fussy about the badge on the headstock. Being a badge snob has it's drawbacks sometimes.

great guitars, had a 70's L.P burst, had great tone. I do have a nice L.P special w/ P90's, double cut-away, lite weight and screams. I personally can't put my tele down, I've always been more comfortable with Fender, and the Fender tone. welcome aboard. It is nice to have different options.

I have a `69 Les Paul in red sunburst inherited from my brother. Its a beautiful guitar both in sound and looks but its very heavy. I like the feel of the neck on my MIA Strat better though. I guess its just a matter of opinion.

L.P.s are nice but as you said they suck if youre playing clean.... that being said I LOOOOOOOOVE my dean soltero classic (its a dean L.P.) it has the sound of an L.P. but a nice thin neck (I have smaller hands so I like thin necks)

I own a 2001 Gibson LP Standard that sounds great clean. Of course I'm not using the stock pickups.

 No offense, but no, they don't suck if you're playing clean. At least the Gibson LP's. Les Paul played his clean until he died and so did thousands upon thousands of others. I have no problem getting clean tones out of them.

Gibby's are good guitars too. Besides my Strats and Tele I also own an SG.

why would make statements about les pauls if you dont even own one and you were basing your opinions on les pauls from a dean?
