It was about 78 rpm records. Hence, the 3 minute limit to song length. If it was longer, it wouldn't fit. 8)

These “favorites list” things can drive me mad!
Narrowing down my favorites is too hard for me since I love all kinds of music.
No particular order, just stuff I own.

50’s:
Berry Is On Top (1959) - Chuck Berry
Ella and Louis (1956) - Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong
Saxophone Colossus (1957) - Sonny Rollins
Time Out (1959) - Dave Brubeck Quartet
Bo Diddley (1958) - Bo Diddley

60’s:
Let It Bleed (1969) - The Rolling Stones
Axis: Bold As Love (1967) - Jimi Hendrix Experience
Live At The Apollo (1962) - James Brown
Green River (1969) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Green Onions (1962) - Booker T and the MG's

70’s:
What's Going On (1971) - Marvin Gaye
Exile On Main Street (1972) - Rolling Stones
My Aim Is True (1977) - Elvis Costello and the Attractions
Catch A Fire (1973) - Bob Marley & The Wailers
Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars (1972) - David Bowie

80’s:
How Will The Wolf Survive? (1984) - Los Lobos
1999 (1982) - Prince
Pretenders (1980) - Pretenders
Rain Dogs (1985) - Tom Waits
Skylarking (1986) - XTC

90’s:
Nevermind (1991) - Nirvana
Odelay (1996) - Beck
BadMotorFinger (1991) - Soundgarden
Ok Computer (1997) - Radiohead
Exile in Guyville (1993) - Liz Phair

No more list from me after this one.
And yes, I do have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment.
Now I’m off to practice my scales, as should you!

The 50's and early 60's are my favorite era for music, in general. Buddy Holly was a true musical genius. I often wonder how he would have changed America’s musical landscape had he lived. Plus he played Stratocasters! You should check out the works of Booker T & the MG’s, too. Insanely good musicians.

I cant name five in a decade that I like. I'll give one or another a decade. My tastes change on a hourly basis.

60's Cream, Fresh cream or Fleetwood Mac, Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac.

70's Motorhead, Motorhead or Budgie, Never turn your back on a friend

80's Megadeth, Peace sells, or Slayer South of Heaven.

90's Ocean Colour Scene, Marchin Already or Peter and the Testtube babies, Cringe.

00's Fun Lovin Criminals, Livin in the City or Welcome to poppy's. (I think the 00's have been particularly bad for music).
