I read a news release yesterday that after the current tour Scorpions will be giving it all up and going their own ways. When I first heard them many years ago I immediately went out and bought In Trance which was their most recent album at the time.I loved their guitar work and In Trance is still my favourite Scorpions album.Anyone else sad to see them go?

I heard that report too. One of the better groups in my opinion. Hate to see them go. :(

Have to take it with this, i think:

Grain of salt, I think the first Stones farewell tour was in '71, and can't count how many other bands have had several farewell tours. it's farewell, until the money looks good again usually.

Slinger,
I am with you! The first album of theirs I heard was Animal Magnetism! I bought it and was sold on them since. Best time was my Senior year in high school I saw them at the Rochester NY War Memorial Arena with Bon Jovi opening (their first album). After the show I was walking back to my car and who happens to be outside back behind the arena..Mattias Jabs. I walk over tell him what a great show..he took me back stage and I got to meet all of them and get pics and autographs. They were a class act! I will miss them!

Unfortunately, that was their last great album. Their best album was the one before thst one ("Love Drive" w/ Michael Schenker). The early stuff before that with Uli was great, too ...

Being the old geezer I am, there are only a handful of bands that I like which are (still) around today. I'll spare you the list except to say that the Scorpions are one of them. Unfortunately, here too like everything else, time marches on. IMO, they had indeed peaked some time ago and like Grace Slick once said (paraphrased), geriatrics trying to pass as rock stars is pathetic. So, they had their, "day in the sun", made their money, presumably enjoyed their lifestyle, left their mark, etc. and know it is time. Thanks for all the music and happy trails!

I didn't hear this until now.

Not a huge fan but they had some great tunes, BLACKOUT was my personal favorite.

We're all getting old aren't we?

Its also a ways of upping their asking price if they ever do want to tour or record again, because it will be their comeback or reunion tour/CD, and not just some other CD or tour.
