My main guitar is a 72 strat which I love. I use 10-42 fender bullets nickel plated steed strings to get the best fender tone and twang. It works great.

However I also have a Schecter classic guitar equipped with two Seimour Duncan pickups. When I got it I was really amazed by the depth of the sound, and the raunch you could get out of it. It was equipped with 10-42 or 10-46 strings I believe, but I dont know what kind (perhaps D'Addario).

I changed the strings to 9-42 sicked plated steel, and it seems that I lost a lot of that rauch. Anyone have recommendations for strings I should use to get the sound back as before. I was going to try 10-42 or 10-46 nickel only.
I dont know what make I should go with.

I have been playing Santana stuff for probably 40 years. I have always used Fender .010 - .038 pure nickel strings. This set is currently called 150TR.

You don't find that the 38 is a little light for the lower E ?

Nope. Good enough for Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, etc, good enough for me. They have a very balanced feel, and the pure nickel strings have a bit more warmth than other types.
