For myself I didn't have the opportunity to go to many shows growing up so my live show existence only dates back about 10 years or so. In that time I've gotten to see a handful of cool players and I have a couple more that I'm pretty excited about. Buddy Guy and John Mayer are in town in April and I'm expecting two great shows. So far I would have to say that Joe Perry impressed me the most and Zakk Wylde was the most fun to watch. I get such a kick out of seeing these guys play because when I get to the shows they almost seem as if they're cartoon characters and it's great to see them live and do all of the amazing things that they're famous for.

Oh gosh... I guess that would probably be Dicky Betts, Allman Brothers in New Haven Conn 1973. 8)

Just missed seeing Derek Trucks when he played our little theater last November. And Robert Cray was here about a year ago and I missed that show too! I gotta keep better track of the venue at The Paramount here.

Either Carl Verheyen or Eric Clapton. Probably more so Carl the Eric.

Okay, so being a KISS fan I was most happy to see the original lineup in '96 and see Ace Frehley. I know he isn't a technically great guitarist but he had a sloppy sort of style that was the heart of KISS' original sound. I've seen them on every tour since '83 but it was great to see Ace.

Greg Koch, he was UWSP around the same time I was a student there so I've seen him play many times around the town of Stevens Point and at campus functions. I worked for the tech services dept on campus so I was involved in lighting and sound at many campus events he was at. For a technical guitarist he's outstanding, and very entertaining. Last time I saw him live was in the mid 90's or so at a place in Stevens Point called Wit's End/2nd street around the release of the "Greg Koch and the Tone Controls" disc, or just after.

Totally different in styles of music and playing but probably my two favorites that I could pick out.

I've seen Dicky Betts a few times. Some of his shows were better than others. Up to this point I'd say Kenny Wayne Sheppard was the most impressive I've seen live.

I have seen a lot of the masters, many multiple times and up close (Blackmore, Rhoades, Beck, Page, Clapton, Perry, Montrose, Trower, Halen, Santana, Steve Howe, Lifeson, Yngwie ... too many to list really). HOWEVER, there was that one special night in San Franciso during the early '80s where Page, Beck, and Clapton shared the same stage at the ARMS benefit.

It's a toss-up between Brian May and Eric Clapton. 8)

I have never failed to see Clapton when he was in my area. I guess for me he would be my favorite. I think the most memorable show was August 28th 1990...just after the SRV thing...and one of the best shows I have ever seen.

I'm young so I've not had a chance to go out and see half of these people but i have been fortunate enough to have John Mayer come to England on his Battle Studies Tour and i saw him on the 18th January 2010 :P
it was a breath taking show and it seemed so surreal i expected to die then and there ha
