As I was going from A to Asus4 and A7sus4/G a couple of minutes ago, I realized I adore my guitar! I knew that already, but it seems as if sometimes I get confused seeing all those beautiful guitars out there. Sometimes I have these, now I know, unreasonable...shall I say thoughts about some unreasonable and, thank God, short-lived desire to mod my guitar. To simply make it look more interesting, unique. But, "NO" I say! Because it really is all about simplicity (not talking about my playing, but an instrument itself). I have an arctic white Strat with white pickguard and pickup covers, and a rosewood neck with 21 frets. And today, while I was watching some guitars and colour combinations, I admit I went into thinking what would it be like to change those white pickup covers and knobs to black ones. And the pickguard as well. Or what would it be like if I had maple fretboard instead of rosewood. Those all maple necks do look nice. But, I don't like that laquer feel of maple fingerboard, and I do prefer rosewood necks. These are just some thoughts that had been going through my head recently. But, when I took my guitar and felt it in my hands, it was just like "WOW"! "I don't need any other but this one!" 'Cause I know it, I understand it, you know. I know I won't sound silly because you guys understand that feeling. It's just that I know exactly how my guitar breathes, and I don't want to go through getting to know another one. I just love it! The moment I took it and started playing, I forgot all about those irrelevant things as what colour is your knob. They really are irrelevant things. And I love white Strats! My arctic white is now getting "yellowish", and more creamy, and I like that. I don't need no fancy stuff to make me want to play! Just the good old Strat!!! And I love how it sounds!!!

Wanted to share that feeling for some reason. You're my friends. In a virtual kind of way.

I know what you mean. I was at a big music store playing guitars that cost 2 or 3 times what I paid for mine. I would trade mine though for anything in that store. Its nice when you find the right one!

Goranm,
I so can relate with you! I have a 2009 Highway 1 Tele that I absolutely love. I see guys buy them and then mod the heck out of them before they have even had a chance to play them. I leave all my gear stock. I figure that Fender got it right so who am I to change the formula. Post a pic here is my baby..:)

When I was starting out I didn't quite get the whole idea of finding the perfect guitar and the whole "when you play the right one you'll know" thing. That said now that I have some feel and a bit of an ear for what I want I love what I have and I couldn't be happier. I tried every Strat in the color that I wanted when I bought mine in December (about 6) and my guitar stuck out. 6 different people could each play those same guitars and all pick a different one but I love mine. It's cool that you've found that attachment with your instrument. Enjoy it and play the hell out of it and enjoy every minute.

When ever I'm GASing for a new guitar I just pick up my SRV and all thoughts of getting a new one go away.

I had a couple of pictures of my guitar ready to post when I didn't know how. Now when I do now how to post pictures here, I don't have anything to post. Someone deleted pictures of my guitar from my computer. Well, I suspect my sister. I must encourage her to get married, so that I can save some of my precious pictures. Just kidding! She'll marry when the time is right. But, maybe the time has come. :)
Anyway...need to get serious. I'm not very keen on taking pictures, you might consider it lazy (ok, I am lazy!), but as soon as I get the camera back home I must take a couple of shots of my beloved guitar. I read a few times here something like "no pictures, doesn't exist", which I find to be very reasonable. I hope I'll remember!
By the way, airbornestrat, I like your Tele! I love bright colours. But, than again I love blue too... :)

Well, I don't think about it that way. I've had Squiers (as a matter of fact I still have a Squier Bullet for practising), and I think Squiers are incredible guitars. I am considering to buy just the very one you have. Well, not the very one you own, but the same model :D . Can't seem to make up my mind about Vintage modified Strat, and Classic Vibe 60's.
From what I've heard and read, they are extremely beautiful instruments.

Please Voodoo, explain me the meaning of the here famous abbreviation
"GAS". I know what it stands for, but English is not my native language so I can't really figure out where the letters came from. If you understand what I mean. I hope you do.

GAS means "gear acquisition syndrome" or more specifically in our case 'Guitar acquiition syndrome' and is to be considered a disease!

Thanks Twelvebar! You shed some light on my thoughts.
Well, is it considered a disease? Or is it just a habit? A type of addiction I presume.

Interesting Jeffo46. I originally had misgivings about the Mint Green pickguard on my American Deluxe but it's kinda grown on me over the months. It's actually quite cool.

the squiers are good guitars, and especially when they're set up properly. i recently bought a fender strat (MIM) with the promise to my bride that i'd sell one of my guitars... had to unload the squier.

goranm - absolutely right about the "right guitar" concept... has nothing to do with cost, looks, dings, whatever... the guitar speaks to you from the moment you spot it. as soon as you pull it down from the rack and hold it, it becomes a part of you. then you start to play it and you say "oh yeahhhhh!!... this is MY guitar!"
that was my exerience when i spotted my strat:
