Vanishing Canada
by Rick Butler

A historical look at Canada with early photographs starting in the late 1800s, not long after the first practical cameras were introduced to North America. The book wrapped up the experience at the year 1914.

Along with igloos and stage coaches, the book pretty much takes you back in time. 203 black and white full page pictures were chosen amongst 500,000 from private and public collections. So, regardless of nationality, one can find some beautiful and historical photography which is also documented as such.

What a bunch of hooey that Tom Sawyer book was. I had to read it several times to see if I had it right.

You know the bit about Ben Rogers and the other boys trading their stuff for a crack at the whitewash? I tried that with paint. DIdn’t work. Maybe it was the paint or the colour?

An issue of Premier Guitar magazine. It's one of the few subscriptions I get a month for magazines. I don't like to read them electronically.

I just got a message from my cellphone provider that they are willing to communicate data from and to my car for a monthly fee that comes out of my pocket. They want to replace a fuel gauge and odometer and they offer an ammeter and more.

Just like the comic book package with featured goodies there are some duds thrown into the mix. Track your car for you and track your car for them like a trucking firm for profit yada yada. If you want car diagnosis there are other and sometimes cheaper and better ways, and whether they are a good or bad thing that’s questionable YMMV. The computer in your car already does most of these things, although that’s for everybody else. :P
The biggest irritation is that people are on board and are being sold something before and not after privacy regulation kicks in. Seriously? I don’t think a broken or stolen car is the concern (sic). Of course some who subscribe without long term consideration seriously need help IMHO. Unfortunately, that’s a gadget that doesn’t exist.

Give me a stripped down rat rod any old day. Oh, and make sure it’s loaded with gauges as I drive past those looking down at their data and bill.
As far as GPS and much of this driving info go, I’ve used it for thousands of miles with a free app that obviously has their own interest, but it’s not the phone company, and it’s not perceived to be as historically evasive, privacy meddling, or directly related to anything locally or nationwide.

The cell phone offer? Read, refused, and deleted! It won’t be long before it’s standard equipment.

Factoid: 1966 Mustangs have a gauge package, others have idiot lights. It seems those lights still exist and shine bright for some.

"This is Your Brain on Music", by Daniel J Levitan. I want to understand a little about the neuroscience of music before I start composing again.

Hey, Rev’. Looks to be a good book. I’ve taken interest in the past of how with music the skin reacts.

AI was found to be on the short end of development when scientists, inventors, and engineers designed robots with a calculating brain as their goal. That was until they were convinced that the mind was the key to robotic success, and those who study the mind were brought to center stage.

Unquestionably, the mind is a huge part of music both creatively and receptively, Add the body and senses to the equation, working with the mind, and you have a miracle in the making.

You might enjoy this read, Rev’.

I like mysteries too, White Dog. I think mysteries and sci-fi would be a tie for me.

I like murder mysteries too, I've just started one called Grave Stones which is by Priscilla Masters and is set in the English county of Staffordshire which is probably about 100 miles south of where I am.

Interesting read. I've had what in Tantric traditions they call energy orgasms while listening to Flying Lotus "To Fall In Love" in a 45 minute loop.

I had limited knowledge of energy orgasms, and on that I’ll give you this (some or all you may know; but, it may interest others here);
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80bea ... yiVMBZybYU

All of which brings the question as to whether energy orgasms or which other such senses are not effective with amusics.
