I think I might buy all of Gary Paulsen's books and reread them. I like his style of writing.

Hermann Hesse! I read about a dozen of his books . . . back when I was in college. Really liked his later work. Wish I had the time to read them again.

"The Ultimate Lyric Book"
A book about Jimmy Hendrix.
It's a Coffee table book written by Jimmy Hendrix's Sister.
It's full of poems, songs and sketches, Written in his own hand. Many were never set to music, and some were. The book makes you wonder what might have come had he lived on. There are also plenty of photo's.
The book sells for $40. at Guitar Center but can be found for $30. if you look around a little.
----Danny,

The Wrecking Crew by Kent Hartman. As most of you know, it's a chronicle of the studio musicians that played on most of the '60's hits that came out of L.A.
Next up is From Abbey Road To Ziggy Stardust by Ken Scott

I currently have 3 rock star biographies on the go.: 1. Jimi Hendrix-A Brother's Story. This book was written by Leon Hendrix,Jimi's brother although I am only partway through the book,it seems that my assessment of Janie hendrix was well founded.Janie's mother was very money hungry and ruthless about it and it appears that the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

2. Brian Jones biography by Laura Jackson: This book tells the real story of how the Stones really started and makes it very clear that it was Brian and not Mick and Keith-as they would have you believe. In the early days they were actually billed as Brian Jones and his Rolling Stones.Mick and Keith wrenched control of the Stones by slow incidious methods, which lead to his major depression and consequently his out of control downward spiral.

3. Life-by Keith Richards: Keef's very limited references to Brian speaks volumes as he makes it all look like that he and Mick started the band and brought the others in, when that couldn't be farther from the truth.I find it hard to read this book because I have no respect for Mick and Keith after what they did to Brian.I have known the real reasons for Brian's loss of control for decades as Brian was my favourite Stone and by far the most talented and musically inclined.Keef credits playing R&B records and getting his riffs from them as being a big influence in his playing but it was under Brian's tutelage that he picked up most of his blues orientated licks, but he'd never say that.

Two out of three of these books reveal the real behind the scenes stories of their subjects and aren't self-indulgent fantasy like "Life".

Right now it's the Feb 2013 issue of Electronic Musician. I'm trying to find time to re-read Jimmy Webb's "Tunesmith", a really good book about songwriting.
