Complete Works of Shakespeare - The Alexander Text

Hi SBLS: I'm a man who likes his Shakespeare, but the Alexander Text is a new one on me. Googling reveals it to be the Harper-Collins edition edited by Peter Alexander. Ah-ha. Never seen it; is it good?

I like the Arden Editions of Shakespeare by far the best, but of course not available in a single volume. About a yard of shelf space needed for those; but worth it...

Cheers - C

Authentic is what I thought the first read, cool that it includes an interesting acknowledgement, introduction and preliminary, for a relatively inexpensive one volume source. Although I expect those are all somewhere in other editions as well. I'll keep at it, the tragedies are always at the end so maybe this time I'll save "All is well, that Ends well" for last.

I did my best and just can't keep my eyes open long enough to get through a page or two before falling to sleep. The Complete Works of Shakespeare is back on the shelf and I'm back to reading a newspaper or monthly publication and watching the boob tube a little. Here is the cover to this months Illinois Entertainer: no it isn't  Tenacious D is playing the Aragon on July 7th. I might try to catch that show as those Bros are hilarious, lol. Image

The complete John Rebus detective series by Ian Rankin.

I'm on # 7 right now. Another 7 to go?

Recently been re-reading some Raymond Chandler. The Lady in the Lake, and so forth.

He really is a minor classic! There are some good moments and great lines in those books.

Cheers - C

The Book of Secrets.
Osho.
Many have this commercial, vane impression of Osho.
They forget he was both a true scholar and an enlightened man.
In this book he translates, in over 1,000 pages, the
Bygan Bhairav Tantra, a most ancient text on TRUE meditation.

With the advent of spirituality as a Hollywood life-style trend,
disciplines such as Yoga and T´ai Chi Chuan are stripped of their
essence as they are filtered through the buisiness model.

In my long search for nourishing content, this book is REALLY
transforming my experience and my Musicality!

I'm almost done reading a history of my boyhood hometown.

Also, I have the October issue of Electronic Musician in the bathroom.

Meet Balram Halwai, the 'White Tiger': servant, philosopher, entrepreneur and murderer. Balram, the White Tiger, was born in a backwater village on the River Ganges, the son of a rickshaw-puller. He works in a teashop, crushing coal and wiping tables, but nurses a dream of escape. When he learns that a rich village landlord needs a chauffeur, he takes his opportunity, and is soon on his way to Delhi behind the wheel of a Honda. Amid the cockroaches and call-centres, the 36,000,004 gods, the slums, the shopping malls, and the crippling traffic jams, Balram learns of a new morality at the heart of a new India. Driven by desire to better himself, he comes to see how the Tiger might escape his cage...

In the growing debate over eco-friendly living, it seems that everything is as bad as everything else. Do you do more harm by living in the country or the city? Is it better to drive a thousand miles or take an airplane? In NO IMPACT MAN, Colin Beavan tells the extraordinary story of his attempt to find some answers - by living for one year in New York City (with his wife and young daughter) without leaving any net impact on the environment. His family cut out all driving and flying, used no air conditioning, no television, no toilets. . .They went from making a few concessions to becoming eco-extremists. The goal? To determine what works and what doesn't, and to fashion a truly 'eco-effective' way of life. Beavan's radical experiment makes for an unforgettable and humorous memoir in an attempt to answer perhaps the most important question of all: What is the sufficient individual effort that it would take to save the planet? And what is stopping us?

Currently reading 'Point of Impact' by Stephen Hunter for a school project. The movie 'Shooter' is based upon this book. I've only read 30-ish pages, but it seems really good.
