Better solution to the overtime rule?
Play one more full quarter of plain old football? Same rules and Everything? 50%  50%  [ 6 ]
First to 6 points? So one field goal can't decide a game? 17%  17%  [ 2 ]
There's a different way to solve the problem (Different solution) 33%  33%  [ 4 ]

A team averages getting the ball at the 25 after the kickoff. To get within range for a 50 yard field goal you have to get to the other teams 33 yard line and that's no gimmie. That's almost 45 yards that the offense has to move before they have a long try. Both offense and defense are professionals. You have to make some plays on both sides of the ball to win games.

+1 It seems when someone's team loses they always complain like this...blame it on Favre...he always folds under pressure!

The Vikings did a lot at the end of regulation to lose that game. Too many men in the huddle?!?!? Oh better blame the refs and blame the rules.

lol i wasn't disagreeing, i was just pointing out another thing they did wrong. it wasn't the fault of anyone but the Vikes. favre included. in fact why the hell would he pick heads in the coin toss, he's a 19 year veteran, he has to know "tails never fails!"

I agree. By the time the regulation game is over, there isn't enough energy left for another whole quarter. The quality of the game would suffer and that's not fair to the players or the spectaters.

The difference between the winners and the losers can be very small. Just look at downhill skiing. All of the entrants finish within 1 1/2 seconds. The second place skier can be a few hundredths of a second behind!

Plus, you still have to respect ALL the athletes, winners or losers, for the work they do and the punishment they put their bodies through - (except golfers.)

Cheers, Gridlok

I agree, Not just becouse im a Vikings fan but that rule sucks! Give a time limit and let em play.
They already had a full 4 quarters to play.
The point is it gives each team a chance to score. May as well just go by the coin toss. :? 8)
