Better solution to the overtime rule?
Play one more full quarter of plain old football? Same rules and Everything? 50%  50%  [ 6 ]
First to 6 points? So one field goal can't decide a game? 17%  17%  [ 2 ]
There's a different way to solve the problem (Different solution) 33%  33%  [ 4 ]

I hate the overtime rule. Just can't stand it!! A team can lose a game w/o getting a chance to even touch the ball. It's absolutely RIDICULOUS! My Vikings lost because of the stupid overtime rule plus the fact they got at least one call blown against them: the Ben Leber pass interference call. :( There's probably more but that one call pushed the Saints up a good 15 yards from the fifty and into field goal range.

What do you think???

What's a better overtime rule? Should the two teams just play another quarter of maybe eight, ten minutes, so they don't get too tired?? Or should they do something completely different??

What's your idea about it? :?: :?:

I think it should stay the same. The players know the rules. If they really don't like the overtime system, they should just take measures to win the game in regulation.

I used to play sports a lot, and every sport has it's odd quirks for tie-breakers or overtime rules, and you know them going into the game. They may not always seem fair, but the rules are understood and shouldn't surprise any player. Best solution, win in regulation.

I think they should play a full quarter to be fair. The problem is, and this is where the current rule comes from, the networks want the games to end on schedule so they can air other shows that advertisers are paying for.

Overtime has always been that way so I wouldn't be upset now. The Vikes had more than their share of chances both to win it in regulation and then to stop them in OT. It's tough but that's the rules.

Maybe sudden death overtime would be better, and more fair, if field goals were not allowed and the first team to score a touchdown wins. That way the offense has to move the ball down the field and really play the game instead of this quick strike for a few yards and kick it B.S. we have now.

If game ends in a tie, total yardage prevails.

I think the complaints about the overtime rules have always been around. They just get louder after a game like this, that's all. I'm not a fan of either team, and the outcome of the game really didn't matter to me but, I believe that something needs to change eventually.

Joe, you live in Vegas? The Saints have lost many games in the past in overtime using the same rule. Life is not always "fair". Unbelievable!!

Maybe "fair" is the wrong word to use. How about "competitive"? I think the game would be better for everyone with a different overtime rule.
