While there are much more pressing issues in the world today I have to say that for whatever reason I've been wondering and day dreaming about what the greats that have passed on would have done in the music industry. When I see Clapton or Page it makes me think of Hendrix who'd be about the same age which then makes me think of SRV. There's too many others to mention them all and it is just a fact of life but man I just can't help but think that the world would be a lot more fun with those guys still around.

I dunno, i think if some of them were still alive they would have gotten old and not as good.
Kind of like the ford mustang.

Did anyone see the Rolling Stones when they did the Super Bowl Half-Time Show? If so then you have seen... older is not necessarily better. :?

One artist I have been missing for many years is Jim Croce. His songs just spoke to my life in so many ways. 8)

I dont think some of the late greats would be as famous if they lived. Look at Santana. We was shreddin at the same time as Hendrix and he hardly gets mentioned.

With all due respect to SRV and others, the loss of Hendrix was the king of all losses. His music was so amazing, and he was so ridiculously prolific. Imagine the albums, the collaborations, and the musical experimentation that he would have been a part of had he lived. We all missed out on so much. Such a travesty. RIP, Jimi ...

There were talks being bandied about before Jimi died to have a collaboration between Jimi and Gil Evans as Jimi had expressed an interest in doing a jazz/blues/rock fusion experiment.I think if he had lived we would have heard some unbelieveable music amalgamations and like Buddy Guy he'd be still dazzling crowds not with his pyrotechnics and theatrics but with his virtuosity and compositions.Cry of Love was just a taste of the tangent he was going off on.

The Concert for George was about five years ago and I would say to anyone go blast that DVD and try to find a better sounding group of musicians anywhere. Also the R&R Hall of Fame 25th concert showed those cats in there 50s and 60s can still bring it. Hey it is a fact we are all going to get old but when I closed my eyes during those 4 hours very few acts sounded there age and they had my blood pumping.

You got that right pbass, the Ox's bass playing was certainly unique and without equal, even in Magic Bus where it is largly one note throughout the song that note just rips it up.I heard a solo of his recently but sadly forget the track,I know I don't have it among my Who albums, but it was the absolute epitome of bass playing truly sublime.Do you think you might know which one it is?I believe it was done live.

+2 Jim was a great talent and forgotten by the media, pretty much. If you never heard him you should check him out.
