TV, music, modern politics.

I also think this subject is dangerous ground. I wont share my beliefs but have to point something out.

Absolutely have to say this is the cornerstone of all civilized life on earth and every religeon worth exploring.

If you get a Strong's Concordance of the King James Bible and look up the amount of times the word 'Others' occurs, its unreal. I think the, A, and, I and Lord are the only words that occur more. In the old testement substitute YHWH for Lord and its much the same result. Its right up there on the word count. Funny how modern christianity isnt geared up like that. According to the New Testement Christ said, "whatever you forgive on earth is forgiven in heaven (others again), when you meet together I'm there with you, The only way to the Father is through me. The rest of it is expounding those few fundamentals. The vast majority is on how to exist alongside your fellow man. Without causing upset.
Not that I'm saying Christianity is the only religeon worth following. I'm not offering a view on that at all. Just saying that anything worth believing or living your life by asks you to think about those around you.

Perhaps I should get BigJay to start the first church of 'Consider Others'.

Where is he? He'd have this thread sorted out in no time.

As long as we're just discussing what we all ARE and not what's RIGHT than this hasn't crossed any line I see. Knowing more background on each other is just getting to know who you're talking with.

I personally am Christian, and practice in the Lutheran faith now.

Question:

If not here - Where?

IMHO, for those that this is their "home away from home" - it's the logical place to discus whatever two or more want to discus.

Those that don't want to hear or see anything about "religion" are not forced to read this or any thread that deals with the subject. The same with any other thread that has a subject a person doesn't care for - just don't read it. That way everybody has their freedom, without it getting trampled and squashed by a select few. Freedom is VERY important in a civilized society.

As for myself - about the religion thing. I was raised to believe in God and that He has a son named Jesus. However, at this late part of my life, I don't know that what I believe would fit in any organized religion. Most of what I believe is based on what I have experienced and observed to be true during my life - and I'm just a few months from being 60.

Yes, I still believe in the one true God that made all this creation we live in. During my life, I have seen evidence of His existence and things done that could have only been done by a "God". So, because of that, I believe there's a "God", and sometimes (very rarely), He steps in and does things to help us. Most of the time we are just left to our own devices, to "sink or swim" by ourselves.

But I have trouble with "The Bible" being this God's "Holy" book written for us to follow. Too many things in the New Testament have proved out, at least in my life, to not be true and just "not work". If it works for others - then that's great.

For those that have found something that works for them - I say that's great - stick with it. It just didn't work for me.

For the most part - I think like one poster said above - God is real, "religion" however, is something made up by man. I also don't believe in "Churches". In my view they "take" all they can get from a person, and "give" nothing but empty promises in return.

But one thing for sure - people should have the freedom to discus what they want. It's called the freedom of speech here in the USA. And so many little dictators in various parts of the world would like to take it away from us.

If it starts a heated debate - then maybe something new will be brought out to shed new light on the subject. But, you will never know if you take away peoples freedom to discus the subject.

It's always seems to be a touchy topic on a worldwide music board.

Maybe better here (since you asked) :

Maybe I'll go to ReligionForums.org and pose this question:

Which is better: Stratocaster or Telecaster?

I'm United Church, that's a Canadian amalgamation of Methodist,Presbyterian and Congregationalist a pretty straight laced bunch however I don't know what happened to me as I used to be a beer drinker and hell raiser.I've mellowed considerably over the years and lately returned to a more spiritual side but don't attend church.I keep my faith in my heart not in a building.

If you had asked such a personally intrusive question to anyone in Belfast in person you would not have made it away alive.

Grow up. Fender.com Clue is in the name. This is for guitars and music.

Yes ... I did ask  (and thanks for your answer  )

And in answering, it also says that without the freedom to discuss religion - your link could not have been posted - since it points to a religious web site. :D

To those that seem to be saying my post was "off topic".
Was my post "off topic"? I say maybe, and maybe not. The thread asked about religion. To me, and my beliefs (religion - if you will), freedom and God go hand in hand. So, it IS part of my "religion", so to speak. Just like you have the freedom to post those things in this thread.

And if anyone wanted to post something about music, or music gear, on a religious site - more power to that. You just might find a few that like guitars too. (and point them this way while you're at it - to this great bunch of folks :) )
