How do you buy your music? Like as in do you download it illegally, or pay for it online or but CD's.

I used to download it, but now I buy CD's, as I felt guilty for not paying for it. But its a pain in the a#se when you go to buy a single and it cost like 7 bucks, I mean for about 3 songs come on.

I am old school. I like album art, credits, and the occassional lyrics. CD's all the way. I like the idea that if my MP3 player or computer craps out, I am not out the music that was on it.

What RK said. I need something tanglible. Also, I think if you buy only one song at a time, you miss out on a lot of good music. Not everything that you come to like sounds good to you the first time you hear it. Ittakes some time, listening to an album several times, before the real stuff comes through. I find that songs that you like right away tend to be just window dressing.

I'm going back to vinyl. It's what I grew up on, to my ears it's warmer than digital and the cover art is worth the price difference. Wonder if the car makers will go back to cassette decks?

I buy CDs and nothing else I don't have the knowhow to download music and anyway I find it unethitical to illegally download music. Some may say that musicians make millions and it won't be missed but that's not the point it still is robbery and not all musicians are rolling money some depend on download revenue for their bread and butter and I won't be one doing it.

I have an account with Napster ($15 per month) that allows me unlimited downloads to MP3 wich I can then play thru my truck stereo, the wifes BMW stereo, the surround sound system, my computer and even my amps.

I also have an unlimited Napster account. The artist bios, influences and automix feature are very nice. It allows me to really dig into who influenced who as an artist.

Cds 95% of the time. I like to have something, to collect and look at the liner notes etc. I can't touch or "collect" in the traditional sense, a digital download. That being said if there is 1 particular song that I like or am trying to learn to play by an artist, I'll download it off of iTunes. I like to get into the "flow" of a cd as opposed to just picking random tracks that I hear on the radio to download.

CDs only.

If I had a good turntable I might be persuaded to buy some vinyl once in a while.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Napster almost exclusivly. I can burn the ones I like the most as MP3's or add them to my library. It's a good deal $5 a month and 5 free MP3 down loads a month. ($.95/ea X 5 = $4.95 in downloads) So I pay 5 cents a month. Hard to beat. I can play the MP's in any of my vehicles. Also, all the cars have Sirus, so if I hear a new tune that I like I can download it when I get home. Also, I have a Guitar port on my PC so I can play along with them if I like.

I try to buy CDs, especially if I'm interested in reading the liner notes. My parents have a massive collection of vinyl, and I've added one of my own (a B.B. King record I found in Austin). But used vinyl is not common in the part of Houston where I live. But I'm not totally against downloading via iTunes, especially if what I'm after is hard to find in stores. I'm about 50% iTunes, 50% CDs.
