I just got the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone. It does everything just like the vid on this link:

http://pigtronix.com/products08/philosopherstone.html

It is dead quite on compression settings. The grit is like having an overdrive pedal as well.

I was going to get the MXR Super Dyna Comp until I found the Pigtronix.

I have an older script style MXR Dynacomp that still sounds fine, but I agree on checking out the BBE sonic maximizers. The 362 rack models
are amazing.

Theres only three in stompbox form i can think of which so the business.

Boss CS4: Pretty much the norm in the compressor and sustainer world

Keeley: Its sopposed to be the dogs bollocks of compressors but ive never tryed one so who cares!

DOD FX80B: This thing is genius, i use one and ive never turned back. Ive compared it to Tube Compressors and it kicks $@!.

I'm an MXR Dynacomp guy.

I love the old BOSS CS-2
too.. particularly on Bass.

The one of kind Barber Tone Press has tone and sustain without the “pop” & squashed attack at the beginning of every note. The plug and play performance maintains phase from input to output.

It is as user friendly as any pedal comes, particularly a compressor, which can become endless trial and error tweaking with no solution.

If you can check out this award winning pedal, your Fender guitar through a Fender amplifier will thank you for this excellent combination. It is worlds apart from other designs and imitators.

I took mine (DOD FX 80) off of my live rig. I don't like using compression, because it keeps you from playing dynamically.

IMHO there isnt a better comp then the keeley 4 knob compressor....http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=8

it is clean, quiet, and fattens ur tone up! I prefer the 4 knob, but either works great,

however they are expensive, and for a cheaper option, i carry a mxr super comp. it works well but the knows are backwards in adjusment to the keeley, but i like it alot as well
