Who are the most underrated bands of all time?? Anyone you think has slipped between the cracks? There's probably a lot out there that I would listen to but just don't know their name. Same might go for you. How many bands can you think of?

Any band counts 8)

I think that Ida Maria deserves more attention.

These haven't slipped through the cracks so much, but I've always felt they deserved more credit.

While they certainly had a fair amount of success, I think Queen never received the full respect they deserved when Freddy was still around. Hit after hit after hit and highly innovative. Truly one of the greatest bands of all time and yet, they're rarely mentioned whenever the subject of "greatest" comes up in the music press.

Bob Seger is another one who's never got proper respect. Fantastic song writer and musician. Man, his music from the 70's literally mirrored my life - I could swear he was writing for me. I remember how shocked I was when I heard he's only had one number one hit - "Shakedown", from the flick, Beverly Hills Cop. It's a shame he's probably most famous for Chevy's "Like a Rock" commercials.

+1

Another person that deserves more attention is Rory Gallagher!

The rock group Mana' from Mexico, mostly because of the language barrier. They are one of if not the most popular rock group in Latin America and the world and their lead guitarist is a beast. They have done work with Santana and toured all over the world but not really gotten much press in the States again because of the language barrier I think. They put out their first album in 85 but didn't really get any notoriety until 92 and added Sergio Vallin playing lead in 94. Great music and very much underrated. JMHO

I always say that The Hollies don't get the recognition they should on this continent. probably my favorite "invasion" band.

Steppenwolf was never a mainstream band and most noted for two songs from the movie Easy Rider... the theme "Born To Be Wild" and the drug culture song "The Pusher".

They did a ton of other stuff that was very good. I recall some good pedal steel in a number of their songs.

One of the best concerts I've been to locally was a band from down under... The Little River Band. When a stage show sounds so much like the songs from the studio, you know the guys are playing clean. Excellent band. 8)

+1 on the Gin Blossoms. They did a gig here and absolutely rocked the house... in their own style.

Ten years after, J. Geils band ( awesome live shows ) in the 70's and 80's. Buddy guy, albert king, and others, deserve alot more than they got.
