ok, bbc 2's new comedy line up for thursday has just started tonight. Mock the Week is back, Rab C Nesbitt is back, and a new show, which i forgot name and cant be arsed to google started. This may only relate to UK viewers, but bejeesus i'm gonna miss Frankie on MTW.

But here's an initiation for Frankie Boyle to those who don't know what I'm on about.

And this comes with an intense WARNING for those who are easily offended!

ya know in fact, I can't bring myself to post it. Just type in Frankie Boyle, Diana into youtube and you'll get the picture alright.

Anyway, point of this thread, your favourite comedians, past & present.

Auld FB would be my favourite current comedian. And it's gotta be Billy Connolly for the all-time legend. What is it with Scottish comedians? And I know it's not just the celtic connection.

Thoughts?[/url]

I always loved British comedy such as Some Mothers Do Have"em,Dr. In The House,On The Buses,Man About the House,Fools and Horses,Hancock's Half Hour,Up Pompei,Monty Python,The Carry On Gang,The Two Ronnies,Peter Sellars,Sid James,Stanley Unwin,Spitting Image and just about anything else British.I guess it must be my British heritage as my forbears came from Cornwall and Dorset.Billy Connolly is absolutely brilliant,I wish we could get more British prrogramming here as it's generally better than North American programming.I get BBC Canada on satellite but the comedies and dramas are limited however I'm addicted to Eastenders and Coronation St.I guess I'll have to lobby BBC Canada to bring in the program you suggested,I made a note of it.

Maybe if they're good enough they remake the series over here in the US. Both "That 70's Show" and "The Office" started over the pond. The funny part is the first couple of episodes are exact copies but with different actors.

There's and old show called "The Young Ones". One of the funniest British Comedy shows I've ever seen. It's about four undergraduate students who share a house. A Punk, an Anarchist, a Hippie and this mystery guy Mike. They all attend Scumbag College. It's kind of like a twisted Monkees parody. They had musical guests like Motorhead etc and talking rotting food in the fridge.

Little britain.

And I love Icelandic comedians Jón Gnarr and Pétur Jóhann. They did together with a third guy three season of shows Næturvaktin (The Nightshift) Dagvaktin (The Day shift) and Fangavaktin (the Prisoner shift) and one movie Bjarnfreðarson. For you Americans the company that made The Office US is remaking Nightshift for FOX. Pilot coming soon on Fox.

I never much cared for frankie boyle on mock the week, it seems like all his jokes are about scottish people.
On the other hand emo phillips, demetri martin and ed byrne are all class.

Tony Hancock was the ultimate. I went to his house, long after he'd passed on. Theres a very tasteful plaque commemorating him and his work.

The other Ultimate not 60 miles from there is Tommy Cooper. Utterly inane good clean fun.

My dad met tommy in a pub after Birmingham City had trounced Leicester City in Leicester. Usually you'd expect a bit of animosity from fans of the defeated side. Not Tommy (avid Leicester city fan) though. My dad reckoned he was the most warmhearted friendly gent he'd met. Kept telling jokes and making em laugh. Stood his round too.

Emo Phillips is a comedic genius,I can't see why he isn't a household name.I almost wet myself every time I hear him.I also like Mitch Fatel and the late Mitch Hedberg.
