You're one of the luckiest guitarists in the world to get to meet that musical giant.I'd scuba dive in a septic tank to get a chance to meet him.I almost got to see him when Howlin' Wolf played here in the mid 70s but the plane he was on got fog-bound so Wolf had to use a local guitarist,I was heartbroken to say the least.

I'll definately try to get a picture or two with him. :) I'm also thinking of asking him to sign my Gibson Les Paul, since I'm currently out of signature free Fenders (which is sort of a joke since I only have one Fender, pitifully). And I'd be embarrassed handing Hubert Sumlin a Squier to sign, even if it is a Squier that I particularly like.

I told my parents, and their reaction to it was "it's funny the things you get excited about". I got pretty much the same thing from my friends, except for a couple of them who also play guitar and know who it is I'm talking about. They freaked out. :D

I don't really think anyone will get a chance to jam with him, but you never know. Last year they had us take our guitars with us to go see Jimmie Vaughan just in case, and just the idea of maybe jamming with him scared me enough to seriously step it up and work harder on guitar since then. Now the idea of maybe jamming with Hubert Sumlin is like another kick in the butt to practice. Only this time I have six months notice and a year more experience, so hopefully I'll be as ready as I can be. :)

The headstock is different but otherwise it looks the same.

I found this one which seems to be a perfect fit.

http://www.fetishguitars.com/index/bar_gem.html

It is a Bartolini, maybe an Alvaro model? We can definitely see the first three letters ALV above the Bartolini name on the headstock of the Hubert Sumlin's guitar. I found a lot of interesting infos about exotic guitars on fetishguitars.com, thanks tgs. :)

This may be old news now but I dug up some more info on the Bartolini
http://guitarz.blogspot.com/2009/05/vintage-bartolini.html

Blue Book had this:

Quote:

Instruments previously built in Italy during the 1960s.
Italy, like many other European countries, experienced the 1960s pop music popularity that led to a larger demand for electric guitars. However, many electric guitar builders were also manufacturers of accordions. As a result, many guitars ended up with accordion-style finishes. Wacky or not, Leo Fender was using this same sort of heat-molded acetate finish on some of his lap steel models in the early 1950s. What Leo wasn't using was the accordion-style push buttons, however. Used guitars in excellent condition can be found between $300 and $500. Source: Tony Bacon, The Ultimate Guitar Book

Good luck this summer hope you're doing well
