God, I hate my life right now.

I just bombed a math test and probably bombed a biology quiz today, and the end of the 2nd marking period is right around the corner, as well as mid-terms.

Strike 1.

I come home and Mom asks me how the test and quiz went, and when I told her how badly I did, she said, "Well, now with two Ds in algebra, you should just give up on your dream of going to Berklee!!"
I was shocked on what she had just said.
I asked her why she had said that, and she said, "What, do you really think ANY good school will even LOOK at you with two Ds on your transcripts?!?!?!? With the grades you're getting, you'll be lucky if a community college will accept you!! You should just give up the dream, Ariana!"
This really got me P.O.ed.

Strike 2.

Then after I storm off and shut myself up in my room, listen to the radio for a bit to calm down, then go to the computer room to start on my homework, she comes upstairs and sits down. She started saying about how much she loves me, and she started to cry, and she said how good of a person and being I was. AND THEN she proceeded to say that she just sent off the check to pay for my next session of guitar lessons, but she is going to cancel it. I went ape-$&^%.

Strike 3.

I'm in a VERY dark and depressed mood now. I've never been this low in my emotions. Ever.

Will the Berklee College of Music still look at me even with two Ds in algebra on my transcript?
I don't care what the hell the answer is. I'm going to try and try my hardest to get into Berklee until I get rejected, and IF I get rejected.

....

God, this sucks.

You will get there Kas. Live puts these little obsticles in our way so we learn lessons, even when they suck, which they mostly do.

Dont worry about it, keep studying and keep teaching yourself. Listen to your beloved Queen for inspiration and you will get there for sure.

Mucho mojo from across the pond.

Try extra credit for the grades, that will take care of the now and Berklee later. Try to work out the drama with your Mom. You know she loves you and will come around. Sending mojo your way and hope this works out(it will). You have friends here............. 8) Mike

How about calling Berklee and asking someone? Maybe it's easily repaired.
Maybe attendance is down and they're being a little more forgiving.
Maybe math in particular wont do much damage.

Find out.

Just keep plugging away and try to keep a stiff upper lip, life throws everyone curve balls from time to time.A lot of schools offer tutorials for people who are having trouble with certain subjects,if your school has such programs by all means take advantage of them.If you really want to go to Berklee you have to be prepared to work hard and maybe make sacrifices, that may seem tough now but you will be rewarded with your long term goal. The harder you work for something the more you appreciate it when you get it.Anyway try to think positive after all you have all your friends at the Forum pulling for you.Keep us posted,Good Luck.

+1!

My whole life I wanted to go to the air force academy (I wanted to fly fighter jets) in the worst way! My dad even pulled strings and got me a letter of endorsement from one of our congressmen.

When it came time to apply the admissions board literaly laughed at my transcripts! DENIED! Just like that my dreams of flying high tech aircraft were over! No go backs, no redo's and the only person I had to blame was myself!

I dont think your mom was being hard on you just to be hard. It important that you understand that your future is your resposibility alone, including whether you get admited to Berkley or not.

This quote comes to mind: "Most people dont recognize opportunity cause it usually shows up at the back door wearing overalls looking a whole lot like WORK!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Dreams dont magicaly come true, they're earned!

Despite that I feel your pain and wish only the best for you! Positive mojo headin your way! 8)

Wow, thank you all so much for your kind and encouraging words. I'm feeling a ton better now that I've read your messages.

I hope that this being only my second marking period in my freshman year will be tolerable on my transcripts. And with me going from being home schooled all my life to my very first school experience in my freshman year, hopefully colleges will see that and be just a LITTLE bit more lenient. Haha, I can only hope.
With a fresh new wind of inspiration from you awesome people here, I'm more determined than ever to put my head down and really focus on my studies.

My mom is off at yoga now, but when she comes home I'm going to hug her as soon as she walks inside and tell her how much I love her and appreciate her caring for me, even if it seems like she's being a hard-ass.

I just don't want her to reply to my love with even more negative words about how I still won't get into Berklee no matter how hard I try. If she does, then that'll just tick me off some more. But I know I can do it. I can and I WILL get into Berklee.

But such as life; good things take time and effort, and I have to acknowledge that fact and really put in the work to realize my dreams.

HAHA, don't worry about it! I get mistaken for a dude all the time--people just assume that since it's a guitar forum, almost everyone here is a guy.
No biggie. :P
