I finally caught "The Strat Pack" on cable TV the other day. I had recorded it on my DVR and I hadn't gotten around to watching it for a few weeks.

I had heard of Hank Marvin through these boards, and I was aware that he had a signature Strat, but I'd never heard or seen him play. I'm not a musical history buff, but I think I should become one, because I thought he was really great. His vibrato is amazing as well as his tone. The Fiesta Red Strat looked cool as hell too. If anyone has not seen this concert, I heartily recommend it and for me Marvin was a huge highlight. The whole concert was really enjoyable and they really did have an all star lineup. Joe Walsh, Brian May, and Paul Rogers also had standout performances.

Kong thousands of players worldwide have tried to emulate Hank. If you look his left hand is quite stationary, it all seems to be trem arm. AlainLaFrance is very much the expert on all things Shadows related. He'll likely answer your questions.

The Shadows still enjoy a big following around the world. Theres a few forums for their fans.

Take no notice of people trying to push modern AVRI's and CS56's as vintage guitars.

I'm pretty sure The Shaddows are touring soon, if I'm not mistaken Alain has tickets for the Paris show. Nik's right though, any info on Hank Marvin you're after, Alain is yer man.

Isn't he great :!:
I picked up the Strat-pack disk after seeing it on HDnet.
It is a disk I'll watch more often than most in my collection.

It's worth finding it on DVD just for the Bonus Features. Rehearsal scenes and interviews with the performers. Brian MAy explaining how the Strat works is very intriguing. He's a Luthier, ya now.

I watch it a lot!!!

Funny thing last night, right after I posted and shut down my computer, I found the Strat Pack on TV, it was on the Palladia channel in HD
Anyone have some info on the strat Paul Rodgers was playing? looked like there were a bunch of custom one off Strats. I had a good laugh when Brian May popped up with his own red guitar instead of a Strat, and again at the end of the Celeb. Jam when he held up his Red Special? (is that what he calls it?) to the crowd. I could imagine him yelling to the crowd "Hey! Look! I'm not playing a strat!! woot woot"

Great show. Phil Palmer was the house guitarist and musical director. His Uncles are Ray and Dave Davies (Kinks).

I noticed that guitar, it was one of those Jaguar (like the car) Strats. I think Alain LaFrance has one and he's posted a pic on these boards.

I find it amazingly beautiful. The wood pick-guard looks amazing against the green finish and gold hardware.

Those BRG Jaguar Strats are just incredibly beautiful, right at the top of my GAS list next to a 54 Strat but at the moment I don't have the 20+ grand to get one...pity.
