If that's the case I will hate to see the HWY 1 go. I dig the nitro and I haven never really been a fan of the CS Tex Spcls. Not that they are bad pups just predictable and widely used so I couldn't imagine paying more for them if they were considered and "upgrade". I wish Fender would have introduced some more colors to the HWY 1 line. I know at one point they made a few more and the light blue color with rosewood neck was sharp. But I am just happy I got one before they stopped making it and I will keep mine probably forever. I have really grown attached to it and just now getting it broken in right.

I'm sure they are going to put all they have behind the Am Spcl though and introduce more colors as the year goes on since it does provide consumers with a "Made in the USA" Fender guitar for a lower price than the Am Std does. Hopefully they will spice it up with some nice colors. If they make a Shoreline Gold I would be tempted to buy one but I don't see much about it that would make me choose one over my Hwy 1.

RIP HWY 1!

In the write up the thing is described as a cousin to the Highway one. I dont think we'll see the end of that line yet. Its a very big seller after all.

I dont see what there is to get about it. Its a strat, arguably more of a strat than the American Deluxe or Standard, if you want to be pedantic about it. If it had 21 frets, another tree and lost the greasebucket it would be 70's vintage correct.

Personaly I'm going to give em a go and try and ignore the big headstock. Just evaluate the thing for how it plays rather than speculate about it beforehand.

It looks like it takes the H-1 route though with mexi and ameri parts though...so calling it an "American" is kind of deceptive...
Interesting, Enlighten Me what Mexi parts are they using?
I haven't seen sheets with replacement part numbers to cross reference to know that.

It appears to be at least a mexi trem, but that is purely speculation. Hence, "looks" and "appears", not is.

It just seems to be a redundant product.

That trem is not necessarily mexi made. I believe the American Vintage series 70's vintage 70'-71' trem is Amer. made. Have to see if it's that one.
