About 30 yrs ago a guitarist for a touring band passing through offered to trade his Moserite 6/12 doubleneck for my Vox Phantom XII,I still wonder if I should have turned him down.

I used to dislike doublenecks until I saw Gordie Johnson of the band "Grady" playing one; it was the SG-type Gibson with a twelve-string on top and a six-string on bottom...

...the cool thing was the fact that he tuned both necks to open tunings (open G, I think :?: ) and played slide on the twelve string (and the six-string, too)!

That twelve-string slide playing through a nasty/overdriven amp was cooler than a brass toilet seat!! It was like Robert Jr. Lockwood on acid...

...the next week I went to GC and pulled an Epiphone version of that axe off the wall, tuned the twelve-er to Open G and let loose...it took a little adjusting on my picking hand (it probably helped that I don't use a pick and I play quite a bit of slide); it sounded really great...stomped on a Phase 90 and it was as freaky as it comes.

Now, I just have to save up enough to get one!

I would rather get a 6/12 doubleneck Tele or Strat (not much of a Gibson/Epiphone guy) and change the pickups to my current Telecaster's pickup config (P90 in the neck position, flat-pole-piece Tele/Broadcaster in the bridge)...

It might be cheaper to just get a twelve-string neck and swap out neck and bridge on a cheapo guitar; it would sure be easier on my titanium-reinforced neck (the one on my personal fleshly body, not on my guitar--dang those ruptured discs!)

...but now that I see the one Fender had at the NAMM show--maybe a twelve up top and a Bass VI on bottom?
