I'm wondering why I'm so unmoved about the disaster in Haiti, dear bretheren (and sisteren). So many reasons....
What a sad place it is under the best of circumstances. $200.00 a year in annual income, santeria, the national faith, rampant disease. A God-less land, if I may invoke His name. Communist Cuba is a vacation, in comparison.

I know this is going to cost me on the macro and micro:

More bread will have to be taken from out of the mouths of Americans and
their children, taxes will have to paid or diverted to cover this. Refugees will be brought in and dumped into neighborhoods where they will feud with other unassimilated rock-and-bottle throwers. New gangs will be formed to compete in an already tight gang market. Bill Clinton will be dispatched, and televised, certainly....
