so i was lookin at the nominees for this years and Grammys and well its all crap. Lady Gaga? Black Eyed Peas? Really? I can name 5 waaaaaay better albums that came out last year than those. The only one thats up for nomination that deserves it is Taylor Swift, i dont listen to her, but just the fact that shes making it w/o bein' slutty i hold the up most respect for her but honestly, my generation sucks. Suck music, fashion, everything! thank God for classic rock.

Not to rub it in, but this is one of the greatest things about my generation. The vast majority of guitar greats were in fact, truly great. They stood there and wailed away without a thousand technical devices and theatrics. And of course, the music itself was appropriate for such things. As you know, the vast majority of these guitar greats' legacies are still thriving today: Hendrix, Beck (Jeff, that is), Clapton, Santana, Townshend, and so on; and then there were those known best for their song writing abilities whose legacy still remains: Lennon, McCartney, etc, etc.

It's one thing to see videos and listen to CDs of them and then there's the actual experience of seeing so many of them live and multiple times at that! My favorite two places for such venues were the Fillmore East and the Ritz Theater. No, I never got to see the Beatles live but my wife did at Shea Stadium.

I'm happy with my generation, though some are gone, but not forgotten.

My generation's a bunch of whiners that complain with undue ferocity about everything while doing absolutely nothing to make anything better. This is a good example of the pot calling the kettle black :D

Hi Gang,
Maybe the younger mainstream is lacking... but check this guy out.
He, 24 years old, and is the most talented player I have seen in a great while. Well notice the "youngster" is playing with a bunch of "older" guys...
This is The Don Kelley Band, just 4 session guys that got together... and something good happened. Enjoy.

I'd have to agree that I'm not impressed with current popular music. I'm not a member of this generation (just a little too old) but I am a junior high teacher so I'm subjected to a lot of the current crop of stars.

I agree with the OP; though there are a few rays of hope (Jack White, some newer rock bands); I grew up with the British Invasion, Motown, the Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Hendrix, Santana, Gary Burton, Woodstock (I dated Max Yasgur's niece), etc. It was a time of absolutely amazing music and musicians (and some bad ones too), and short but sweet concerts. I would venture to guess that it will never happen again; the politics and social forces of that time just came together in a flash, and then just as quickly died out.

It is because those people at the top (w/ NO musical talent) are the ones calling the shots. At least that is the way it is in America. All genres have suffered this horrible fate. That is why 80% of my music comes from foreign lands and a little of America's underground. I NEVER listen to the radio, I haven't in over 5 years because it is all the same recycled garbage.

I agree! I meen even with the black eyed pees I used to love them back In The elephunk days. But this new stuff.... What is it? Were is the love man? Any way I deal with it by listning to those other bands that deserve the awards and ignore the general publics musical tastes.

Lol! Yeah our generation sucks one!

I guess thts kindof a funny typo! I always make a 1 at the end of my long line of exclamation marks!
