I've never really gotten into Buckethead's stuff, but a couple friends of mine absolutely love the guy. I'm wondering what some of your opinions are on him. Granted, the dude's weird, but i think he's a great guitar player. Not the best by any means, but pretty good.

I think his main appeal is that he's fast. Not sure if i would call him a "shredder" or not, but he has at least some musical quality to his playing.

So what do you think of him? If you don't know who he is, just look him up on youtube.

The dude just terrifies me. I saw him in 2002 with Guns N' Roses in London and he was just too weird for that band but I have one of his albums, something to do with Prarie or something.

I liked what he did on Chinese Democracy though, love that album.

He is impressive big time but I need something I can groove on, its too random. If I want that kind of stuff I'd stop by John 5 first.

(Bring back Izzy and Slash, if the new stuff needs 3 guitars then Gilby too!!!)

I agree 100% with CC as far as GNR is concerned. The dude is good at what he does but he is really weird. His playing is for an aquired taste IMOP.

My youngest Brother is/was? a big fan of Buckethead and highly recommended him for me to listen too. I was not impressed. Granted he can play extremely fast up and down the neck, but to me it all sounded the same. There did not seem to be any heart and soul in his playing.

LOL so you put on a mask and wear a KFC bucket. Maybe he should go with an 8 piece box.

Surprisingly, he's got alot of emotion in his playing.

One of my favorite piece he does called, "Padmasana" is really nice.

I think he's so over-rated, he's under-rated as a musician.

The guy has insane chops that is not an issue. I agree with the video game sounding playing though, sounds very mechanical and fast for the sake of being fast. I had read an interview with Bootsy Collins who is very good friends with him and they made a funk album or a not of this planet funk album that I am interested in hearing.

I can remember being a kid and putting those mask on at Halloween and how you feel you cant breath, see and have a $@!& load of dribble in there. So I give him kudos for being able to play like that wearing one of those and playing. But boy he is beyond weird.

It really depends on if you want to up-size your meal- I like the potatoe & gravy, whilst dipping my fries...

Anyway, I saw... well the NEW Guns 'n Roses playing 'Nightrain' and yes the final solo, he is good. He plays like a frog in a blender. The sad thing, is why doesnt he play it in a more pentatonic structure like slash played it? Slash was more tasteful in his playing, and dare I say you could say the guy had his own style. Buckethead plays well, but man, someone please tell him to slow down. I really dont care for GnR nowadays.

Let's face it. People who shred these days are show ponies really- except for John5. He shreds, but he doesn't have the wind blowing through his hair and pouting like Fabio or Rachel Hunter..

Buckethead is eccentric and quirky to say the least but there's no denying that he's truly gifted and quite proficient in just about any style of music.
