1. Rory Gallagher - in my opinion, the most versatile and multi-gifted of the "great" guitarists. Electric, acoustic, slide guitar, harmonica, sax, mandolin, sitar, singer, writer and producer for the majority of his career.
Check out his second solo album "Deuce" - truly one of the best guitar albums of all time ( and he's only 23 at the time !! )

2. Duane Allman - overall a guitarist with skills probably unmatched. His sensitivity, phrasing and dedication are awesome. To my hearing, he is the only white blues guitarist playing one song; " I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town" on the Allman Bros. album Ludlow Garage, that is completely unidentifiable as to the race of the guitarist.

3. Jimi Hendrix - the most spectacular electric guitar player ever, nothing more has to be said here.

Ronnie Earl

Honorable Mention-

Johnny Winter
Joe Bonamassa
David Gilmour
Pete Townsend
Jonny Lang
Derek Trucks
