Never really liked SG's that much. I think it's the look more than anythin though.
Glad you liked it, hope that man flu disappears my fellow Scot!

i got an epi les paul studio, and it's pretty good for a basic guitar, the pickup's arn't great but the wood is good, so will upgrade the electronics as and when

I try my son's SG Custom Prophecy from time to time. It's a beautiful looking axe, and the sticky finger humbuckers sound great but...it's "clunky" to play for me. The neck feels huge compared to my Strat. Go figure.

And the body doesn't fit me like my Strat. Clunky I tell ya.

Well, I had a G-310, which is the cheaper bolt-on neck version, Although not perfect, for the money, it was a decent guitar, with pretty good action. It probably could have used better pups, but the stock ones weren't bad. When I was in the market for a new guitar a couple of months ago, I had considered getting the set-neck G-400, but ultimately took the plunge and got a Standard Strat instead. At some point in the future I may get one.

I have an Eppy G400 Custom(3 pup SG bodied Les Paul) and it's a fabulous guitar(once you getused to the neck heaviness)it's a great tone machine and with all 3 pups engaged it even has a single coil like sound. With the middle pup disabled you get the standard SG sounds. This guitar sings through a Marshall and you can produce any tone and it shines from a whisper to a wail.Well suited for just about any genre of music.

I have a epiphone SG, haven't put it down since the day I got it, only when I have put it down to play my strat.
There good guitars, but still i love my strat more.

So Epi SG = Man Flu? Get better and stay with the Strat, it will make you feel better.

hi there , her sg is the 400 version and a nice wee axe indeed albeit neck heavy , played with it for an hour or so last night and it's still ok :) then i got her old hohner pro se35 downstairs now that is a beast of a guitar , it feels so much nicer than the sg playability wise , but still not as nice as the strat :) . i've been playing my strat for about 15 years and usually the only other guitar i play is my yamy apx , and i have no complaints about either of them but when playing some bowie or zappa , zz top i miss the sound of the humbukers that you notice is missing when playing that type of music with a strat plugged straight into the marshall , i suppose i could plug in one of my marshall effects pedals (jackhammer and bluesbreaker) but i usually just use one of them for a wee bit of boost during solos . i think what i'm rambling on at is that both the sg and the 35 have a very rich tone that the strat just can't come close to when plugged straight into a marshall :) and i'm just lucky that i can borrow them from my girl :) i also showed her how to play are you experienced last night , the main theme anyway :) one of the main reasons i love my strat is i play a lot of hendrix and nothing comes close to a strat for that :) cheers

Zal Cleminson used to play a wicked SG, Angus Young of course with his sig SG is holding up that sound very well since Zal hasn't been around for awhile.
