Hey I am glad Brad is pumped on this and did not come out with one of those phony excuses, and if any artist sent a few lines you would see a big spike in there popularity here even if it was someone from a different style that some of us might not be familiar with but who has played the big show and has been in front of the masses.

As I said before I was just dumbfounded on the EBMM forum who just sighned Country wiz Johnny Highland and right after they announced he sighned he came on posting as CountryNinga and it is just cool to hear from guys like that. Also Petrucci sent a post as well as a long one by Jamie Humphries who is a terrific player from the UK and part of the Licklibrary stable of talent of which I own many DVDs and these guys seem truly excited to talk to the guys on the forum and Jamie was fielding all questions from his rig to what he used to recorded a video he sent in.

I also realize and said Sterling Ball post regularly and as being the owner that carries a lot of weight and I realize there is only so much Brad can do. But to be honest the artist there genuinely like talking on the forum. Bottom line they are just people like the rest of us with a common interest. But I really feel like we will be hearing from someone here, and if not we still have the greatest bunch of guys amongst ourselves.

Hi straycat: back in the earlier days of the Forum there was a widely held belief that John Mayer did indeed stalk these boards under a pen-name. The notion was that he was gathering input for his (then) forthcoming signature Strat - though I have no idea if any of this is true.

However, if he's been around recently he will have seen some very unflattering things said about him here, which wouldn't exactly encourage a guy to stick around.

Cheers - C

Well I think I'm just gonna hang out and wait until 'you know who' drops in and gives us the low down skinny on that one, before I believe it.

I just hope that when whoever drops in, that our dear forum people will be nice! I have only recently started posting and realized very quickly that people will write without understanding to whom they are writing to, or will be a little less than thoughtful in their comments. Such is the case with the e-method of communicating.

Would be an embarrassment to have cleb write and then have someone shoot them down, not knowing to whom they are writing too. Maybe it would be good that if some celb does come on, that they could identify themselves so they could be shown more respect. Please understand that i am not trying to be critical, but objective.

I think this is a fantastic idea and it's something that I too have been hoping for for these forums! There are tons of killer artists that we work with on a daily basis, many of whom are already forum-, blog-, and Internet-savvy in their own right and I think it'd be fun to start having a few of them hop by here every now and then.

Gents and ladies
I spoke with Jim Campilongo and he said that he is going to drop by some time! I am really excited because he is a great guy and will talk with folks about anything you want to know. He is a great guy!

airborne now where talking. Xhefri I agree with you on that 100% as on the Music Man forum no one hides who they are. I mean that would be stupid as I have seen from Hendrix to Vanhalen get bashed one time or another on here and ever yother forum on the web. When someone knows who it is they are polite even if they are not a fan unless they are just a total $@!. And we do not have idiots like that on here to begin with. Or should I say anymore.lol

Well, quite!

I vaguely recall a lot of amateur detective work going on and people coming to different conclusions. Since I don't know much about John Mayer (and even less then) I sat back and watched. Don't know if it was ever cleared up for sure.

Thank goodness we're mostly friendly to first time posters here and don't do all that "newbie" stuff. For my part I try to remember that the guy saying something I don't agree with about tone or whatever might just happen to be Jeff Beck or Eric Johnson making their first post under a pen-name. It would be very funny if someone responded snottily: "Well what do you know about?"

Mind you: plenty of stories about that happening in real life. Those guys have to get at least a little used to it...

Cheers - C

Ya C!
That reminds me of that story I read in a little bio-booklet I have that came with a CD of Chet Atkins and Les Paul playing together. While Chet was on a cruise ship he found out that the lounge guitarist was sick one evening so he asked the bar tender if it was OK to go play a few tunes. He was granted permission even though no one knew who he was.

While he was playing the captain of the ship happened to pop in and sat down and gave a listen. When Chet was done, the captain walked up to Chet and said, "Your pretty darn good, but you ain't no Chet Atkins!"

Chet commented in this little booklet that that was the first time he was complemented and insulted in the same breath!

QUESTION: I know some well known people in the industry who are avid Fender players. If I was to approach them about coming onto the forum, what would I tell them we are wanting from them? How do you see them participating? I would need to know when i email them. The guys on the Fender forum were hoping that.......???

I suppose I could ask Gilby Clarke if he'd mind. He only uses Tele's and Strats now and then but he's a lovely guy!

THANKS! Some great ideas.... I will email Steve Cropper and a few other guys. Steve plays a signature Peavey but is an avid fender Tele player, as some of you might know.

First off I would be honored to right a line to Steve Cropper one of the greatest players ever and just to hear about Stacks and Booker T and the MGs as well as Wilson Picket. Boy could we get a schooling right there.

I like Gilby and saw him the second time I saw Guns as Izzy left in between the Use your Illusion tour. But it was not until I saw him playing with Heart did I know he is a fantastic lead player. Mike Mcready came out to jam on Barracuda and Gilby Clark really smoked him. I hate to say that or make music sound competitive but it was the truth.lol He got smoked ,and I was just astonished at what a wicked lead player he is. Just like I always here Brad Whitford is a much better lead player than Joe Perry.

It would also be cool if we could get some interviews going. Like put Mike Eldred in a chair with an artist and have him fire away what they are up to ,the gear they are using and things of that nature.

I have read a million interviews with guitar players and they all love when they have an interview with a guitar magazine instead of some idiotic piece as I have seen a ton of them say it. They love talking shop just the way we do because after all they are guitarist. I really cant imagine people turning down Fender to talk shop, as we probably have the most traffic on the forum than anyother company.
