Just saw one the other day on Antiques Roadshow. It was a '52 and appraised for around $25,000. Get that sucka insured man. Oh yeah, don't sell it! There's your kids college or your retirement right there, all taken care of.

Of course you could sell it and turn it into music toys you won't even own ten years from now. Once upon a time that would have been my choice.

Play it, love it, keep it. You'll be glad you did.

I saw that same show. It looked like that thing was in pretty good condition to.

reconridr, what kinda shape is it in? Or have you even seen it yet?

I would probably sell it and get a bunch of stuff I've always wanted.

You're lucky to have something that belonged to your grandfather. It's priceless because it's from your grandfather. I'm sorry to hear he passed on. Take care & God Bless!

Seriously, if you don't play now, learn. That guitar is a treasure on so many levels, that I think if you sell it you'll end up regretting it til the end. Learn to play it, then when your time comes pass it on again. Talk about a a family heirloom...wow.

Yeah, I have had it since he passed but never gave it any thought until talking to a friend the other day, he told me he thought it was worth more than I could emagine, long history behind the whole thing, also to long to get into, but I play fiddle and mandolin, and I played along with him, I miss it... As far as shape its in, for its age, real good shape, it still sounds good and play's, its blonde with a white pick gaurd. used enough that the finish is wore off in one area on the back and the neck has wear on the back, but he did play it alot, didn't just sit around. orginal formed fit case, the outside of it has alot of wear but inside looks real good.

It doesn't get any cooler than that. What about an amp? Did your grandad have an amp with it? Maybe a very, very, very old Fender amp? That would be one helluva setup to have.

That kind of set up would bring in the big bucks at an auction in NY or Nashville. Even if it was a little 5W Champ.
