Mike Svec, owner of Anchorage Guitar Centre for 30+ years in Anchorage, Alaska, died Sunday, Jan. 3rd. He helped many young musicians over the years get started with his generous payment and layaway plans on every and anything in his store. He was the ONLY Fender authorized dealer in Anchorage. Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like he was a real good person. Hard to find store owners like that nowadays. Luckily I still have some around my small part of the world.

Mike was indeed a good person, very good person indeed.

He did help many young musicians get started and involved with music, I am one of them. Over the years I kept buying from his store or would say that I needed guitar strings just because I liked to just stop by and say hello. I guarantee the is no other place with service this great and such a friendly owner. I will miss him and others will too.

I lived in Anchorage for many, many years and just moved from there 3 years ago and was never aware there was a Guitar center there till this thread and then I googled it… ...always went to mammoth music….
It’s a shame, his family will be in my thoughts and prayers..RIP brother
