........I have. Me and my best mate were talking about inspirations, and I asked him "whos yours?" He said, " Well, to be honest its you..."
I was like, wow. I mean, not what I was expecting him to say, but still it made me feel good about myself, knowing that someone looks up to me. I have no clue why, I mean its not like I did anything big or anything. I just asked him by text, and he said, " Yeah you are nice and peaceful, and you dont give a sh!% when people pick on you."

So have you?

Yes. But only when it concerned riding. I think nothing of jumping on a motorcycle and riding 1,000 miles or more in a single day. Even some of the young guns think I'm really hardcore. At age 56, I guess they're sorta right. 8)

I convinced two other riders to join me in earning an Iron Butt Association certification. They never would have done it had I not set up witnesses, planned the route, etc...

I wish learning to play the guitar was that easy. I'm making progress. I give it an hour or better every day I can. My DVD player just bombed so I lost my instructor. Also... weekends are problematic with other people around.

Yes.

Back in late 1995, my family had a reunion and one of my nephews was there, think he was around 10-11 years old at that time. So far he had never picked up a guitar. I had brought my old beater acoustic with me on the trip and played off and on during the course of the week we were there. I remember showing him a chord or two and noted that he picked it up fairly quickly.

Now, he is well into his twenties, just married and is attending some very advanced jazz guitar classes at a local music school. He plays in a jazz band and even teaches guitar and makes, as I understand it, a pretty decent living off all of that.

I figure that I'll update my will to leave him all my guitar equipment when I am gone.

Oh yeah. one other thing. Reading those posts by Ceri in the Strat forum has inspired me to build my first bass guitar.

Yes, Somone once said to me "You really inspire me."
Then they promptly passed gas.

Funny you should mention that, but just Saturday I was in a local record store when the salesman recognized me from playing Hendrix covers in a club nearly 20 yrs ago(I used to do a lot of Hendrix before I developed arthritis in my hands)Anyway this guy told me that his real good buddy, who is one of the most respected blues players in eastern Canada, told him that I had inspired him to take up guitar seriously.Hearing this really touched me as even though this guitarist who is several years younger than me, that all those years ago when he used to come around to our jams I made a difference in his career path. The feeling is just amazing.
