Life's Long. I mean, I'm only 13 and my life seems like its been 70 years. A year for me, goes very long, a day goes long for me. Is it just me or what??

.....And society, well in my opionion is really stuffed. Think, about 60 years of work, and about 13 years of doing what you want. Its really gotten out of hand. I mean, the indiginous(or however you spell it) people of my, and many other countries, had it right. They just did what they want. I mean sure, living out in a desert wouldn't be pleasent for a few weeks, but they weren't introduced to life what we have today, so for them it would be like, woah. You know what I'm trying to say? Am I the only one who thinks society is totally messed?

Don't wish your life away. As you get older the years seem to pass much quicker. Each year becomes less and less a percentage of the whole of your life and so it seems to be that less significant as far as your time on Earth is concerned.

I am 56 and retired now so I know a bit about what I'm saying here. Add to it the fact that back in April of 1998 I had a "drop dead" heart attack... I'll tell you Riley, it all makes me realize that life is short. Too short to stress over other people. Be your own man, be a good person, and you'll do fine.

Riley, life is long indeed. When I think back.....wow, some of the stuff I did
seems like 400 years ago.

But if you dont want to be just another wage slave, then stay out of debt, use bith control when the time comes, (and it will), postpone commitment.
And shun drugs, alcohol, too. Let everyone else foul their lives. Not you, no way.

And, as the man said, 'follow your bliss'.

You're pretty smart for 13. I mean it. You're light years ahead of me, back in the day. Maybe now, as well.

Keep posting, man.

Oh. That makes me feel so, so old...

Hi riley: seems like about a month ago that I thought the way you do. But in fact it was 32 years ago. See what I'm getting at?

Cheers - C

13 and talking about life! Life is the sum total of ones experiences and at 13 you may think you have had many but I doubt it. They are different for everyone and there are many of them. Happy, Sad, plus in between, things you have to do and those you don't. Been 37 year since I was that age and now it seems to have blown by.

Hey Riley, I'm 15(not at all That much older than you) and is see what you meen. Living out your life not having to worry about money and carazy stuff. Just hanging out, playing music and socializing at camp fires! What A life it would be. For me life is like I just started living it a while ago. I look back and think wow! All that stuff I did as kid, I don't feel like doing it now but I wish I had savored it. Now I'm doing way more cool stuff(music) and I don't Want that to happen. So I try my best to live out each day savoring the good times whit friends and family. Sure I have to worry about school stuff but there's enough great stuff to do that makes up for it. I'm doin my best not to miss out on that stuff.... I'm not doing to good at it but I'm still trying!

The older fellows on the forum probably think it's silly to be depressed at our age and I think it is. So live how ever you like and do the things you might not be able to do when your older. Cause I'm pretty sure you might regret life If you don't.

Riley,
My boy please don't rush your life. I have been where you are at and know what you feel. I will be 45 in a few weeks. I have been the Army for 23 years. It seems like a lifetime ago when i was a young man with the world ahead of me. I squandered much of it away because I grew up in a small mountain town and wanted to get out and see the world. I wanted everything right now. I failed to really enjoy the life I had at the time. Savor the life you have, you don't have to worry about a job, or a mortgage or providing for a family. Jealously guard these times where you are only accountable for you and your grades in school. I have seen so many things in my life some good some not so good. I have fought in two wars, seen boys become broken old men over night. I have welcomed new sons to my friends and Soldiers. I have also buried some of my Soldiers and some of my friends. In all this time I have learned that life is a gift to be savored. In 7 years I will retire with 30 years of service to my country. On one hand I am excited for my retirement. I will be able to spend time with my wife and play my guitar more and just relax. But, I am not rushing it. I am really savoring and guarding my last bit of time in uniform because I know that when I retire...I can never get back the experiences from my service. I hope that you understand what I am saying and realize you are so lucky. I was once in your shoes and I too felt the way you do. I remember one of my father's friends saying the same thing to me and me thinking sure what ever you say...well hind sight is 20/20. We are here for you and if you ever need to talk just give a yell. I hope that this helps in some small way.

Hello riley, for the first question, yes. maybe when you were writing the question things seemed to be going slower than usual. For me if I'm waiting for some thing to arrive in the mail, time moves very slowly, but, when I have two days to learn a tune before a gig and its a difficult tune, two days go by in an instant whether I have learned the tune or not. for the second question's, no and no. The indiginous people would be collecting the taxes if they had even been close to right and everyone gets a little frustrated with society when they forget to count their blessings, I know because I remember an old saying "elephants don't bite, its those little things that get you". Don't let the little things get to you riley as those little things aren't as important as you are to your family and loved ones.
