Joe Bonamassa is my musician of the moment......I highly recommend "The Ballad of John Henry" to all. He is a great guitarist with some solid songs and interpretive covers........

Couldn't agree more. Only recently got put onto him and was blown away looking at some of his stuff on YT. Although he has his own (way overpriced) signature Les Paul he has done some great songs on strats and a variety of other makes I think.

Do own the Albert Hall Concert. In the supplementary section you'll catch quick shot of Ceri, front and center, whispering in his wife's ear.

It was that very first lead solo note at 1:52 on High Water Everywhere, the opening track on You And Me, that hooked me.

Hairs on the back of the neck standing up - oh mammy!!!

.......and the house's sound system isn't too shabby either. That comes across on the DVD.

I've got a couple of his cds as well as the Royal Albert Hall concert. His guitar tone is brilliant, just as his playing is. I never tire of watching him play.

[quote="mike26"]....... as well as the Royal Albert Hall concert.
Look for Ceri in the audience during the bonus number. If you can't find him, we'll cue you in.

I have the Royal Albert Hall DVD and I will have time tomorrow night to ID Ceri and the Mrs.......with me luck!

An awesome concert DVD by the way....my boys and I have watched it multiple times - much air guitar going on by us during the concert.

Jockey Full of Bourbon (Tom Waits cover) and Feelin' Good are two of my favorites on the Ballad of John Henry CD.

go to www.premierguitar.com and search their last issue for JB. They do a couple of videos with him. On one he goes over his gear. People questing for tone need to see a lot of this. They should also read Guitar World. They do a lot of 'rig' articles. It will give them an idea of what is NOT possible with a 15 watt amp in one's bedroom.

The guy is the real Mcoy and I always kept track of him ever since I saw that documentery years ago on PBS when he was like 16 and was playing in that band Bloodline that was made up of all famous musicians offspring. And Danny Gatton was his teacher, I also remember in that Danny showing him his Fender Artist Tele he just got and told him one day if you stick with it you might have your own. I was supposed to get the Albert Hall concert from my Brother for Christmas and as he was away for the holidays I will probably see him this week as I have heard he tears it up on it. I think he has the best blues chops out there by far today of the young guys. He also has great rock, country and jazz chops, the guy can do it all.

 Hi Beaubs: I'm at the opposite end of the country to that DVD at present, but from memory if you go to the bonus track on disc two then from around 7:01 onwards there is a guy in the audience in a blue rugby shirt who is first whispering in his wife's ear and then composing a shot on a little camera. (I hope I'm recalling that timing right...)

That inattentive fella who should be paying more attention to the music is... me.  :D

Cheers - C
