Hey there! I'm a kid who plays an listens to a lot of music. Especialy Canadian music! I believe a lot of it stands out over the crap that's getting released by major labels for a quick buck.

So if your a fan of any Canadian music past or present post here! This is detecated to my favorites!

Sloan
matt mays an el torpedo
Joel plaskett emergency
the trews
wintersleep
rush
the tragicaly hip
Billy talent

+ many others!

Claude, if you like those you may want to check out Danko Jones. Nobody has mentioned them yet. Best band to come out of Canada for a while.

And I hate to have to be the one to mention it, but Nickleback is a Canadian export as well.

I'll also add:
The Watchmen
Wide Mouth Mason
The Odds
Junkhouse
54-40
Jet Set Satellite

Man I can't believe no one has said Voivod yet!

Also Bob & Doug McKenzie's "Take Off" featuring Geddy Lee has to be one of the greatest one, well I'm sure if it was really a hit, but one hit wonders out of Canada...

So many good bands...

This has to exist in order to offset the fact that Nickelback are Canadian. They are a negative value to Canadian musical integrity and worth, but thankfully Nickelback's negative value has no major affect overall on the country of Canada's overall music value due to the shear number of decent, good, and great bands that come from Canada...

Now I'm afraid I'll have to refer to Wikipedia. I know there is a lot of other excellent Canadian musicians/singers out there but you can't know them all. :)

Bit left-field on a guitar forum, but anyone who's sat about four feet in front of Maynard Furgeson hitting the high notes won't forget it in a hurry.

Also, I only just found out that Bod Ezrin is Canadian. That's interesting... slightly.

Cheers - C

Oh, and I forgot my favorite Canadian band. If you all want to hear straight ahead, good old fashion rock, they listen to The Headstones.
Hugh Dillon, was in the movie Hard Core Logo. He is also on TV now in Flashpoint.
