I have a plain $15 stage stand for mine and it's always so handy to pick it up and play. Sometimes, no amp... just to practice the finger positions.

If I had to retrieve the instrument from a gig bag every time I wanted to touch it then I'd be less likely.

Besides, the black Stratocaster with pearloid pick guard is absolutely gorgeous and I would hate to hide it in a case.

Having a guitar stand does come in handy. If I want to put my guitar down for a moment, I'll set it in a stand. As far as displaying or keeping them on stands for long periods of time, I highly discourage it. I prefer guitar wall hangers for that. I have had two guitars accidently knocked over while in stands, one of those guitar had the neck broken (long story, but devastating none the less).

I've got a few cheap (around $15-20) stands and I love having them. It makes it easy to get to the guitars and they look cool on the stands which is a bonus.

Well, surely you don't want a stand that rocks? That doesn't sound very stable...

Seriously, I endorse Tanner's suggestion of Hercules neck-grab stands. I have several and they are a good option.

I also have several of the regular A shape QuikLok stands - and almost every time I reach for a guitar the strap catches on that curvy bit that cups the bass side of the body and I find myself lifting a guitar dragging a stand behind it. How annoying!

Cheers - C

Guitar stands are very handy. I have an "On Stage Stand" the GS7462B

I use my stands for when I record an need to use more than one guitar.

My advice would be it does not hurt to have one. get a good quality one and not some cheap thing. after all your guitar(s) will be on it.

If you store your guitars in your cases when not playing, and don't find it a hassle to get them out of their cases each time you want to play, then don't get stands.

If you don't keep your guitars in their cases, and just have them laying around or leaning/propped up on things, then I suggest you get stands because they'll save you from many accidents and tragedies that may occur when the guitars are not held or stored safely or properly.

Also, you don't have to get stands for all your guitars, you can just get one for the one you play the most, and keep the others in their cases...Other than the safe and proper issue issue, if you have not felt the need or urge to get a stand, then you obviously don't need one...

I concur with Tanner, the Hercules stands and wall hangers are excellent.

Hello 123123,

I've got a few guitars only one stand, that's plenty.
Now if I were a performer I might need more but
for around the house one is the answer for me. I keep
em in their cases till I need one, keeping fatalities at a
minimum.

Cheers.

I can see where he's coming from. My new Strat is my baby and my first really good guitar. It's always in the case. I do end up playing my old Epi LP for quick bursts because of the case issue as well. Not only is mine in it's case all the time but downstairs as well because I have a 1 and a half year old girl who's into everything. My Epi is on a stand in a corner so she's unlikely to get to it but I don't want to take the chance.

My "little ones" are 23 and 26 years old respectively. My Stratocaster hasn't been in the gig bag since the day I brought it home a month back. 8) It's tucked in behind a chair in the living room with the amp. I take it out to practice for about an hour almost every morning. A case would just be one more step to mess with while setting up to play. It's not necessary here.

Having a stand keeps your guitars more accessable so you are more apt to pick one up for a few strums than you would if you had to unpack a case.I have several stands, one that holds 3 that only cost $30.
