First and foremost,I own a very good OD pedal, it gives me all the "dirt" I need. That being said I still feel like I am missing something,to "carry" the notes, even in a semi-clean setting. So I am asking what pedal(s) do I need to achieve this?

I have heard this on a few Multi-effects pedals(I used to own) being done, so I know it can be obtained,I'm just not sure what is being used to achieve it?

The gear I use is listed below. I am going in the direction of single pedals, because Mutli-effect pedals have too many patches I don't use and having one is just a waste of money and space for my styles of playing (Blues to Heavy Rock).

Any input is greatly appreciated, and please offer your opinions on pedal manufactures too, of the needed pedal(s)!

Thank you and Happy New Year to all!!!!

The pedal you need is a clean boost

try a pedal with a clean boost. I don't know much 'bout pedals. I use a ibaneze tube screamer, dunlop crybaby and a boss blues driver. I play in a blues band and a classic hits cover band. Those pedals seem to work fine for me. Check-out what carlos santana uses for gear, he can carry notes well, not sure how to, maybe google. happy new year.

+1 on the BBE Boosta Grande. Goofy name but a very nice, clean boost.

My favorite overdrive/boost pedal is the Fulltone GT-500. It's an overdrive/boost and distortion pedal. The extra grit is there when I feel like using it and the clean boost is outstanding.

I have always used a multi-effects unit to fatten up my tone. The vast bulk of the distortion and tone comes from the amp, though. But a slight addition of OD, chorus, compression and EQ make all the difference. I previously used a much older Korg unit which was okay as I only used the effects slightly. But just recently I have switched to a Digitech RP350. Experimenting just for fun, I put my amp on a very rich but dry clean tone to see if the Digitech could provide a "heavy tone" all by itself that could match my amp. It couldn't come close, though. So now -- as before -- about 95% of my tone is the guitar/amp, with the multi-effects unit providing "shades" that fatten and color it up a bit. This really works for me.

Maybe a good compressor may do the trick.

I use a Boss CS 3 in front of my Blues driver, It really helps with "evening" out the tone. The compression/Sustainer will help with a lot of things... just my 2cents
