I want to thank all you guys for the compliments and well wishes! I'm really enjoying the guitar and I think I made a great choice. I'll probably hang on to this one forever.

This place rocks - thanks Fender Forum. 8)

There was an error with the clip. Again I have to say, that guitar is hella fine! Despite my 2 new acquisitions i'm still seriously jealous!

Very nice git ..Great price also ...You did the right thing by going with this over the Epiphone ..Epiphones can be great guitars but there resale sucks...This guitar will hold its value ..

I recently bought a 89 ES 335 from the original owner who had it under his bed for almost 10 to 15 years since he quit playing..I wont say it is mint but it is a good 8.5 out of 10 if not more ..According to the seller i was paying exactly double of what he bought it for in 89...There is no way an Epiphone would hold that value...

I know what you mean. If Epiphone put better pickups and came with cases, and managed to keep their prices close to what they are now, they would be a better deal. But by the time you upgrade the pickups and get a case you're almost in Gibson territory price-wise. The decision to by the ES-339 was a no-brainer.

I just saw a Sheraton II in ebony for $300 with a case the other day, it looked mint in the pics. That shows Epi resale value right there. I should have jumped on it though, because I think the inlay and the vine on the headstock are sweet.

I don't see why Gibson has to add $1000 to the price for some decent inlays though. That ES-359 is gorgeous, but it's very hard for me to cough up and extra grand for block inlays, an ebony board, and some gold plated hardware that will look like crap in a year.
