Took the plunge today on a Gibson ES-339. I was gassing for a 359 with the nicer inlays but got a great deal on the 339 in light caramel burst with the 30/60 neck. I know it is not Fender, but I'd rather hang around here with you guys!! I still have 3 Fenders anyway

here's a pic from MF

It is supposedly a customer return in new condition and MF is having a sale on used gear today. So I got it for a hair over $1400. I will definitely share pics when it comes in. I had been thinking of building a custom Warmoth Les Paul in another thread, but I could not justify the expense. At least this one will hold some value. I was also thinking of an Epi Sheraton II but after you throw in the case and upgraded pickups, it was like 900 so I thought what the hell, grab the Gibby for a few bucks more. I dig the smaller size of the 339 anyway (same size as Les Paul)...

Now we play the waiting game... of course I will post pics when she gets here!!

I was going to go the the Gibby 57 classic in the neck and the 57 classic plus in the bridge. I really like the Sheri too, believe me!! Which color did you get. I was thinking about the vintage burst. I really dig the gold hardware and the inlays are awesome especially the headstock. I still think they're an awesome deal, I just couldn't pass up the 339.

Got this thing about blonds, do ya? Congrats, the Floodcaster and the Gibson will give you ammo for any tone-fight I can think of. Gonna miss the project guitar though.

Happy New Year,
John.E

I may yet build that project, it just will have to be on hold for a while... I still think a birdseye maple neck on a blue burst quilt les paul with black binding/inlays would look sick!!
