I'm sure that most of you musicians that travel and those of us that drive to our day jobs everyday have issues with other drivers. This is a couple of mine-
1. Those semi truckers that go 85 mph in a 70 mph zone. They get right up on your a#* if you don't get out of their way. They're usually the same ones you pass later down the road in a ditch, jack knifed, or pulled over by the State Troopers.
2. Drivers in town that come to a complete stop when just turning into a drive or side street. Come on-there's no stop sign there!
3. There should be a lane for those of us that know where we're going, and a seperate lane for the ones that are never in a hurry, are lost, or daydreaming while they're driving.
4. I'm all for cell phones, but the people that can't use them and pay attention to what they're doing behind the wheel need to pull to the side of the road, stop, and then use the cell phone.

What's your beefs?

i guess different states have different laws for this, but in PA, it's called the "passing lane", and is always on the left. not the lane to be in if you are casual or timid. in fact i think authorities are slowly trying to enforce proper use of this lane.

my main beef is women behind the wheel, the #1 obstacle on the road.
(i'm actually kidding by that, but i base that statement off of plenty of observations, so it isn't completely false.)

All good gripes so far.

My personal favorite, the people that pull out in front of you on a 55 mph highway, forcing you to slow to 35, than the turn left in front of you and you have to wait for them. Usually there is nothing a car behind me for 3 miles but they just had to slow me down......!!!

How about the perpetual blinker? You know, the car that's been hinting at a left turn since about June '83?

1) Anyone holding a cell phone, for any reason, while driving.

I think we should be allowed to shoot at them and place them in as much danger as they do all the people around them.

2) Also and including... those people who just cannot see a motorcycle no matter how hard they may or may not appear to be looking at it. See number 1).

i forgot to mention pedestrians and bikers who feel the need to walk/ride in the street when there is a perfectly good sidewalk next to them, paid by both of our tax dollars.

i actually had to stop dead in traffic because a ped. was walking in front of me. there was a car coming from the opposite end, and they were going around a parked car. usually there is room for both of us to continue driving, but on this occasion, there was only room for one car to pass, because some idiot decided they were street legal. DOH!

i mean, just seeing this occur is ridiculous enough to watch. i'm thinking about writing into the Sound Off section in my newspaper. or maybe i should start driving my car on the sidewalk until some half-a-brain realizes what's going on.

Where I live it is against the law to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.

It's even worse when they're trying to text and drive.

Wouldn't it be great if the license plate number of a car was the driver's cell phone number? You could call him/her up, hands free of course, and let 'em have it.

well, i didn't make mention of bike lanes, i believe that is how it's done for your area then. is that a state law or city ordinance?

i was speaking in terms of residential zones in PA, where there are no bike lanes and where bikes belong off the street. it's not a big hazard to pedestrians for them to be on the sidewalk, considering there are reasonably few pedestrians. it is however a hazard for bicycles to be in the street around motor vehicles. but i guess thats where different state laws come in. PA tends to use bike lanes mainly in city regions

People doing their make-up while driving, how much of a hurry could you be in?
People honking at learners stalling their cars.

We have a city and a county ordinance that prohibit bicycles on sidewalks and our state laws treat them as any other motor vehicle on the road. All traffic laws have to be obeyed just as you would if you where driving a car.
We have very few bike lanes at all. And even where we do have them drivers ignore them all the time. I've been almost run over from behind more than once by someone using the lane illegally.
